Title: Beware left footers if Terry comes to Tigerland

On 3aw Rohan asked Wallace why Richmond's skill level is continually poor year after year. Wallace replied that we have too many one-sided players. In particular too many left footers as when they are caught on their wrong side they are forced to "crab" - go sideways. Spoke about Lucas at Essendon doing the same thing to explain it to Rohan then said imagine having 7 players in a team like that! IMO there's more to it than that (like guys who can't kick properly at all) but it was interesting to hear him say that nevertheless.

Our left footers: Tivs, Hyde, Duncan, Hall, Bowden, Fiora, ...?

They aloo talked about what A-grade players we have. They came up with 1 and a 1/2. Brown (1) and Richo (1/2). Cogs is a potential A-grader. Cambo was one and Johnson wasn't. Pretty spot on the money IMO.

Sad but true...of those lefties, who can kick right-foot? Bowden, Hyde..??  :-\

Yep that's about it Gibby plus Duncan can't even kick with his left  :P.

Rohan also asked Wallace if having so many left-footers was a recruiting fault but he didn't answer that as they moved onto the next caller.

But the big issue is THEY mostly play down back so we are pretty predicatble when defending

Brown is another left-footer. And Chaffey. And Newman. (That's 9)

Scrub the Hodge rumour because I'm pretty sure he is too.

I could be wrong bg25, but i think he's a rightfooter.
But i think Franklin and Roughead are lefties!

froars is correct. The "top" lefties are Franklin, Roughead, Lewis, Kirkby, Eckerman and Bate.

Its not about being a lefty..........

Why is Hyde different to the other names? Because he uses his right.....
Even if your right-sided your stuffed under Wallace.....you just have to be both-sided, plain and simple.

Talk about bringing back an old thread
There was an article in the paper today where Chris Pelchen admitted that he targeted left footers in the draft because his stats told him that they were overall better kicks than right footers. So if he had a choice between two players he ranked the same at a certain draft pick, then he'd split the tie by taking the left footer.
