Title: Changes this week against the Swans?
Post by: mightytiges on July 17, 2006, 05:04:14 PM
I know I'm a fan of his and he wasn't listed in Coburg's best but I would bring Meyer back into the 22. After Friday night we need all the classy players with precise foot skills we can get and he was only dropped against Port because he had the flu.

Leek soup who was in Tassie says Staff played fairly well and looked interested for once. I wonder if Wallace will bring him back in against his old side and give Patto a rest.

Your guys and gals thoughts?

I wouldn't be surprised if Rodan comes in - he's been very consistent at Coburg the last few weeks.

Stafford knows the SCG but I don't think you can have Richo, Staff and Schulz in the same side up on that ground.

If Lids doesn't come up I reckon Rodan will replace him and perhaps Stafford for Patto to give him a rest  :-\

Saying Rodan will come in for Lids doesn't help spread optimism WP  ;D  ;).

staff will come in 4 joel
meyer might come in 4 white but i hope tiv gets dropped 4 meyer but that wont help his trade value so it wont happen.

staff will most likely play fwd pocket to strtch the sydney defence
patto will play his usual support role 4 snake

I don't think we'll play both Patto and Staff in the same side. Once the ball hits the ground we'd get killed on the rebound. IMo we only need one to give Simmo a breather.

As for Tivs, the SCG is probably the one ground you would want him to play on. Just tell him him to go long to the hot spot and if he is near or inside forward 50 tell him to just go long for goal. K.I.S.S. principle for Tivs this week and Terry should drag him if Tivs chips short to contests.

We agree on that one MT :thumbsup

I believe that both Rodan and Meyer are being strongly considered for this week.

Sorry guys but if stafford ever plays for us again i will(quote from TW in the movie Year of the Dog)"fair dinkum spew!"

He is just not up for it.Slow as a wet weak.Lousy kicking skills.Constantly let us down. You can gather im not his biggest fan.

I couldnt give a flying fruitcake if he played well for Coburg.

Rather have patto there or even promote Dean Limbach.

I think he remained on our list just in case simmo was struggling.

Has to be delisted surely at seasons end.

Well if Hall is fit he may come in for Bowden,

other options are to play Sarge down back in place of Joel.

I would also bring Meyer and Rodan in for Krak and Tiv.

Happy to have Razor in.Is fearless and backs himself.

Absence makes the heart grow fonder in Razor and Rodan's case  ;).

The Swans are a even side with very few talls so I wouldn't bring in another tall as we'd become top heavy. If one comes in then Patto will probably make way. Razor has been out for 4 weeks so he'll need match fitness at Coburg. He's also be plagued by "general soreness" for most of the year. I'd also bring Meyer in before Rodan.

Sorry Tailz you lost me there. Im happy for people to bag Staff but the minute they defend and want Razor in the side.....BA BUM!!!! You strike out....

I have said that I would like Meyer to be in the side more frequently, but in saying that I want to see Rodan get a run at some stage. This game is critical to our season and contesting finals. Id go with Rodan bc hes a bigger body and may be able to break some packs.

BTW am I the only Richmond supporter who is celebrating Bowden being out? I think this is brilliant and am cursing he didnt get two! I would have loved to have seen us play (and our style) on the G without 'the General' *spews* in the side. I reckon this is a great opportunity to show that he isnt that important to us with a solid performance this week.

PS Sorry for hijacking the thread!

Ok was just wondering considering most footballers who have that build, that speed, that kicking ability usually play on ball or even off a wing where they work hard to get their possessions.....and if anything they move to half-back late in their career to ease up on the physical pressures on their body....

Joel should never have been on Robertson. Wallace made a big boo-boo with the match-ups. It worked in the first quarter because the Melbourne forwards were pushing too far up the field and in Daniher's own words were chasing after "bludgers" kicks. This still allowed Bowden to play his normal run-off game without getting hurt on the rebound. Once the Demon forwards in the second quarter remained closer to goal then Joel had to either play tight on Robertson and we lose his rebounding or he plays loose and we get killed on counter. Chubba should have played on Robertson and if need be Sarge could have been pushed into defence if we needed another tall in the backline with Richo remaining up forward surrounded by smalls.
