Provided we turn up to play as a team unlike last year at the Dome :banghead, Fev stands in the way of a win. Will we risk Razor on him? :help
We need to run out on Sunday and make sure we make up for last year. A spanking with a wooden spoon lol would be brilliant :pray :thumbsup.
-
Bowden goes onto Fev. We win by 40 points atleast if we win in the middle. If fev doesnt get the ball they cant win, so lets make sure he doesnt get the footy. The MIDFIELD is where we win this game.
-
I think that Patty Bowden and maybe Chaffey will need to try and fill up the gaps and congest the f50 to give Fev less space to lead into.
Hall may be ok and Bowdo could also expose Fev and run him up the ground. I suppose either one should run him up the ground and get him to blow up a bit.

Bowden likely to get big Fevola job
The Age
August 15, 2006 - 7:20PM
Joel Bowden appears destined to be given the huge responsibility of curbing in-form Carlton full-forward Brendan Fevola to keep alive Richmond's remote AFL finals hope.
Fevola leads the league goalkicking with 77 majors, including eight in last Sunday's loss to Hawthorn, and is capable of torpedoing the Tigers' hopes at Telstra Dome this Sunday.
Bowden will be giving away 3cm but up to 10kg if he lines up on the star Blue, and Richmond coach Terry Wallace admitted he was bereft of big, strong defenders with Darren Gaspar and Andrew Kellaway still injured.
"Good question," he said when asked who would take Fevola first.
"Darren Gaspar and Andy Kellaway - both of them are unavailable.
"We played Joel last week on (on Brisbane's Daniel) Bradshaw and I was really pleased with Joel's efforts.
"I think defensively he's got better and better and better since I've been at the footy club."
The taller but slower Ray Hall is the other option for Fevola and did take him in round five, when the latter booted 2.4 in the Tigers' narrow win.
In better news for Richmond, which needs to win its last three games and hope either the Western Bulldogs or Collingwood keeps on losing, star forward Nathan Brown should return after two games out through a hamstring injury.
"Hope so, he'll be training tomorrow and he's got to get through the session and through the week to get himself fit enough to play on Sunday," Wallace said.
"Certainly it was always this week or next week depending on how the injury progressed."
Even if Richmond (10th) misses out on the finals, the Tigers are still a good chance to improve on last year's 12th-place.
The Tigers have posted nine wins like they did in 2005, play Carlton and then fellow struggler Essendon in round 21, and Wallace believes a tough draw and bad injury run have hindered the Tigers in 2006.
"The draw was the toughest in my time coaching ... we have had a pretty torrid run with injury and we've developed a lot of new, young boys, so we really do believe if we finish around the same sort of levels (as 2005) we've made some advancements," he said.
Meanwhile, Wallace denied reports the Tigers were leading the race to secure Jason Akermanis in 2007 from the Brisbane Lions.
Wallace said Richmond had gained the public favouritism because it had owned up to having spoken with Akermanis, as Tigers football director Greg Miller had spoken with the midfielder recently.
Wallace said Richmond would inquire into what the Lions wanted for Akermanis during the trade period, but was not confident.
"It is less likely than more likely, but we'll play the game like everyone else is pretending they're not," he said.

Has to be Joel Bowden
Poor Ray Hall struggles/panics too much when he is at FB much better further out from the opposition's goal
-
bash his head in Staff.
-
it will be joel, same set up as last week, paddy and co will need to float across packs and fill in holes and creat a zone defence.

I reckon Whitnall will take Richo.
We really have to get the mindset right for this game and go out like we did last week. Go out like we did against say the Hawks and we will get pummelled

Round 20 previews
17 August 2006
Herald-Sun
John Salvado (AAP)
CARLTON V RICHMOND at Telstra Dome 2.10pm
Head to head: Carlton 113, Richmond 82, Drawn 2
Last time: Richmond 12.20 (92) bt Carlton 11.18 (84) R5 2006 MCG
TABSportsbet: Carlton $2.55, Richmond $1.47
Centrebet: Carlton $2.70, Richmond $1.47
The young Tigers have copped some fearful beltings in 2006, but more often than not they have won the matches they were expected to win. With ruckman Troy Simmonds in career-best form and the Bowden brothers continuing to provide rebound from defence, the Tigers hold most of the aces. Carlton has been boosted by the news that Anthony Koutoufides will play on for one more season.
Key: With both clubs light-on for tall key backmen, Coleman Medal pacesetter Brendan Fevola and Matthew Richardson will be setting themselves for big days in front of the sticks. But the Tigers look to have the edge elsewhere in attack, even if big Fev does kick a bag.
Tip: Richmond by 30 points.

Hall or Bowden to take Fevola

Richmond coach Terry Wallace says that either Ray Hall or Joel Bowden will have the job on in-form Carlton spearhead Brendan Fevola at Telstra Dome on Sunday.
"We've been working on it all week," Wallace said on Friday, with a laugh.
"Obviously last time around we played Ray Hall on him and he did a reasonable job. Joel Bowden's been playing those roles over the last couple of weeks, so you would expect that the role would come from those two players.
"We hope they can do the job because we obviously know that he's in great form."

Have I got a job for you: Terry Wallace talks tactics with Ray Hall yesterday.

Tigers on mission
19 August 2006
Herald-Sun
David Hastie
TIGERS coach Terry Wallace has earmarked defenders Ray Hall and vice-captain Joel Bowden as the men to subdue in-form Carlton full-forward Brendan Fevola tomorrow at Telstra Dome.
Fevola, who heads the league's goalkicking with 77 goals from 19 matches, kicked eight goals against Hawthorn last week before leaving the ground late in the final quarter with concussion.
Wallace said he had been working on a match-up for Fevola all week.
"Last time around we played Ray Hall on him and he did a reasonable job," Wallace said.
"Joel Bowden has been playing those sort of roles over the last couple of weeks so you would expect that the role would come from those two players and we hope that they can do the job."
But Wallace's focus is not just on the Blues' spearhead.
"We obviously know that he's in great form and that he's kicking over a third of their general score," Wallace said.
"But we also know that they've got some other forwards that are very, very dangerous.
"We found that out first-hand last year (Round 18) when we played them in a similar game and they had blokes step up and kick multiple goals on us early in the game.
"So Brendan is one player that you need to look after, but you certainly have another five down there."
The Tigers have named the same side that beat Brisbane at the Gabba last week.

The Tigers have named the same side that beat Brisbane at the Gabba last week.
So who wants to tell him we played at Telstra Dome? :P
-
Once again we don't turn up to play against Carlton at the Dome :banghead
Bowden's doing well.
-
With Richo taking marks on the wing our next kick forward gets picked off. Too immobile up forward with all talls up there. It would be nice to get a free too ::).
Great mark Richo and goals :gotigers.
Rich 2.2-14
Carl 4.1-25
-
Krak marks and goals :gotigers. Needed that.
-
Done well to be this close. Been smashed in the centre clearances although Blingers turned the tide in the late couple of minutes. Richo could have levelled the scores but misses. Quarter time.
Rich 4.3-27
Carl 5.2-32
All 9 goals from marks :o.
Best: Bowdens, Polo (giving lappin a bath), Tuck, Razor, Richo (would have been better if he kicked straight).
-
Simmo gash above his eye and is off.
We've woken up this quarter. Awesome run by Lids and pass to staff for a goal. Then Tivs goals and Simmo takes a great mark which cut his eye open. Blingers takes the kick. Foley goals from the crumbs :gotigers
Rich 7.3-45
Carl 5.2-32
-
Sarge gets another. Foley is turning it on. Straight to Richo but he misses.
Great direct footy. This is awesome. Tuck goals from another mark. 5 straight goals ths quarter.
Rich 9.4-58
Calr 5.3-33
-
LIDDDDDDDDDDDSSSSSSSSSSS :gotigers. Razor is possessed in defence :rollin
Rich 10.5-65
Carl 5.3-33
-
Petts gets a 50 to make up for the one he gave away in the first and goals :gotigers. Simmo soon to come back on.
Rich 11.5-71
Carl 5.3-33
13-4 centre clearances this qtr. Foley has turned it around.
-
Razor stay away from Fev and leave it to Joel lol.
Krak goals after another great play from Foles. :gotigers. Great hearing Raines, Lids, Blingers all in the middle.
Rich 12.5-77
Carl 6.3-39
-
Thank gawd we didn't get Lappin. We should remember - no chasing after 30 year olds.
Badly needed goal to Staff. Fev and the Blues had the momentum. Half time. 9 goal quarter :clapping
Rich 13.5-83
Carl 8.6-54
Best: Foley, Bowdens, Tuck, Lids, Polo, Raines, Staff, Tivs, Krak, Sugar (tag on Stevens), White, Hyde and most of the side.
Fev is the only danger.
-
We should have got the first 3 goals of the quarter but allowed Carlton to get the first stuffing around with it :banghead.
Bloody umps :banghead but Richo gets the goal anyway :gotigers.
-
This is robbery. The umps won't pay Richo clear frees. So you can push blokes in the back now ::).
-
Tivs goals on the run. Best game from Tivs in a long tim. Hitting targets and kicking running goals. Sugar, Polo, Raines, Hyde, Lids killing 'em through the middle.
Richo gets another :gotigers and then misses lol
Rich 16.10-106
Carl 9.7-61
-
Tivs off with an ankle.
We can't finish them off :scream. Another gutless umpire decision not giving Polo a free for a clear holding the ball and Carlton have kicked the last 4 in 6 minutes :banghead.
Richo misses again :-\
Rich 16.13-109
Carl 13.7-85
Now they penalise Howat for holding the ball for exactly the same thing as Polo's tackle >:(.
-
These umps have no idea ::). One pays Kouta a mark and the other says not 15.
Staff gets his 4th :gotigers. Needed that. Wallace's little chat worked lol.
Rich 17.13-115
Carl 13.7-85
-
Krak seals it from a crumb and Simmo gets another :gotigers.
Rich 19.13-127
Carl 13.8-86
-
Angry Petts gets his second lol. A bit of a hog today.
-
Rainesy long running goal. Goal of the day :bow :gotigers
Rich 21.14-140
Carl 14.11-95
We should have won by more as we went to sleep and lairised late in the 3rd quarter and missed gettable shots but we won comfortably :gotigers
11 goals kickers today and 5 of them midfielders :clapping.
Our youngsters one again did the job with their pace. Foley, Lids, Polo, Rainesy, etc... Most pleasing thing from today.
Our tags did their job as well got the footy - Sugar on Stevens, Polo on Lappin and Tivs on Scotland. Joel did a great job on Fev with hep from Paddy
-
Rainesy long running goal. Goal of the day :bow :gotigers
And guess who walked out of the game half way through the last quarter and missed it? :banghead
