Title: Kevin Morris's Son
Post by: Bulluss on August 17, 2006, 10:51:52 PM
Was speaking to a guy from work who is heavily involved down at St.Bernauds Footy Club in the Amo's.

He tells me that Keven Morris has a son who has been playing down there and Cannons i think and he reckons he goes alright.

Just checked the records and Morris pulled on the yellow and black 111 times so he certainly can be taken under the father son rule.

I am not sure on his age or position etc but the guy from work reckons he would certainly make it at AFL level.

Does anyone know anything about him?

There's a Steven Morris who plays onball with St Bernards U19s and has scored a couple of games the last 2 years with the Western Jets (wears No. 1 this year). That could be him. Don't know anything else about him as for some reason the Western Jets website has left him off the top of their player list.

He's mentioned a couple of times on the St Bernards FC U19 match reports - http://www.stbernardsfc.com.au/default.aspx?p=169

TAC Cup games:

2006: 2
2005: 3

Got some more info today.

Apparently he left Western Jets coz he felt that he wasnt learning anything or improving as a player.

Approached St.Bernauds where he has played all his junior footy and has played and trained under Simon Madden.

He is 16/17 and from all accounts goes alright.

He will definately be playing with Calder next season, so he will be one to look out for  :thumbsup

Had coffee with him about 4 weeks ago. ;)
said he wasnt prepared to play on bench,( Jets) fair enough I reckon.
Actually told his dad best option was to play rest of season at A Grade ammos.
He is already qualified for draft so its irrevalvant where he plays the rest of the season.

If he's got talent then get him with a late pick a la Rainesy and let him develop at Coburg.

I think you're right L19. He was pretty hard to miss with the peroxide hair.

Ramps,

A guy i work with is involved with St.Bernauds. He reckons he could make it but still needs to develop a little to get there.

I think that is why we should try and get him to Coburg and develop him the way he needs to.

His goalkicking accuracy is very poor - seems to be a trend in football today - maybe not enough paddocks and parks for kids to play kick to kick in

Are the Tiges still interested in him even if as a potential rookie?

He is still eligible to play TAC next season, but from what i have heard it appears doubtful he will go that way.

If he is any good we should get him at Coburg and try him out and if he shows something then take him father-son.

Is there an age limit to the rookie list?

Is there an age limit to the rookie list?

IIRC Bully, eligible rookies need to have not turned 21 prior to Jan 1. Of course each club is now allowed one mature rookie too.

Sorry MT, i meant a minimum age?

I think Morris has just turned 17, i know he can play TAC next year if he wanted. I dont think he wants to so i am doubting his ability to make it an AFL level. Otherwise why wouldnt you play TAC.

I was wrong anyway Bully. Here's the criteria:

Quote
To be eligible for inclusion on the Rookie List a player must be between the age of 18 and 23 years and spent no more than two years on the club’s Rookie List.

He doesnt want to play 2nds Level at VFL. Box Hill are interested although he hasnt got a drivers license and getting to pre season training at Box Hill would be a pain in the ""bottom""
Turns 18 at Xmas ;)

I know that he is still eligible to play TAC next season, so he cant turn 18 until atleast next year sometime.

I would think that would rule him ineligible to be placed on a rookie list.

I may be wrong

He thinks he can be rookied ?
Title: Re: Kevin Morris's Son

to be rookied doesnt he have to have nominated for the national draft first and missed out?
Title: Re: Kevin Morris's Son
Post by: Jackstar on October 09, 2006, 05:02:16 PM
Answer to that is Yes, he is already qualified for draft. Thinks the best he can do at this stage is roookie.
