Staff had retired and Joel and Richo are safe so next up is Knobel.
Knobel played 18 games (avg 8.2 poss, 16.6 hitouts) in 2005 but only 3 this year (avg 2.7 poss, 14.3 hitouts) due to injury and Simmo's form. Is he in trouble or will Staff's retirement give him another year with Patto and Graham still youngsters?
-
I think Knobel must stay because we will never make it with one ruckman.
he has been beset with injury this year but the rest and recovery session I am sure will get him back on track.
-
I think he might land on the trade table.
-
too injury prone, let he be gone
-
Alternate as second ruckman with Patto.
-
Can't afford to let him go otherwise we'll have no ruck depth at all. Should come reasonably cheap after this season.
-
This is one of the tougher choices.
I say keep simply becasue of the backup he gives simmo. I also think that Simmo was at his best when Knobel was pushing him for time in the ruck(or was he better becasue he was getting a rest, not sure).
Anyway. Keep for me.

going by Tezza on WLF last week when asked about the Gardiner he said we wouldn't be interested because we have Simmo, Pattison and Knobel.
Knobel is a yeah for me.
We need another mature aged ruckman. Pattison is still developing
Even if we keep Angus Graham it will be as a rookie because he is no where near ready for AFL footy. He didn't even make the final Burger side on Saturday

Yeah for me. Keep him for another year, just so Pattison can get a bit more experience into him.

If you want an indication of Knobel's value, watch the Adelaide and Geelong games.
Adelaide
At least two if not 3 goals (out of 10) from his body work and tap outs to clear advantage.
Geelong
Same thing at least 2 goals from very clever body work and taps to advantage. And he only had about 20 minutes ground time.
He taps, he blocks and he shelpherds. Very good value for mine.

Maybe Knobel will end up on the trade table after all. What was it that TW said on WLF this week?
-
Yes. Keep. 1 year at a time on min payments

Cheap insurance?
A yeah from me too given Staff's retired. Back-up for Simmo and he gives Patto time to develop. Knobs is a very good tap ruckman but if he is to survive mid to long-term he's going to have to get his hands on the footy.
-
He's a hack & has given us JS last year.
Trade him if possible.
Neah.

He's a great tap ruckman. Not a big posession getter but that doesn't matter when the ball is in the hands of players with better disposal skills. Has good peripheral vision and knows where his midfielders are. Yeah keep him. :thumbsup
