Title: Yeah of Neah - 31. Chris Hyde
Post by: one-eyed on September 08, 2006, 02:38:56 PM
Cogs, Sarge, Patto, Krak, JON and Tambo are contracted so next up is Hydey.

Hyde was one of only 6 Tigers to play all 22 games this year. He averaged 16.8 disposals (ranking him 11th at Richmond), 6.2 marks and 13 goals 10 behinds which was his best return to date. 2006 was his 5th year since debuting. He's now played 69 games.

Not 100% sure if he is uncontracted but assuming he is, is he safe or will we put his name out on the market?

catch 22
if we can trade him for a better player or good draft pic , go 4 it
if not , keep him

Yeah.

Keep him until the kids come on further and some players recover from injury. Then he should find his position under pressure.

Good, solid player in the right age bracket so I'd resign him.

The right leg is still for balance, would see as a depth player from 08, therefore expendable beyond.

Sign on 2 year performance based deal.

Yeah for me, just until the youngsters gain some more experience. If he is uncontracted, give him 2 years I say.

Yeah from me. He's become a real solid and consistent contributor

He is one of only a few on our list that has any realistic trade value that you'd call tradable.

I mean we have number of blokes (read the kids) who have great currency that you would not trade but Hyde is one of the"established" ones that has value and you'd get something decent for.

I certainly would sound other clubs out and see if you could get a higher pick or you could use him in a package to get a player like aker.

If nothing suitable is out there then he's yeah

Agree WP. Hyde's fairly quick and would add depth to an established list so he would attract interest IMO. Wallace may want to hold onto him as he does play that run and carry game and we don't have many players as it is in that middle age bracket. It'll be interesting which way Wallace goes. Trading him may be a sign Terry will rebuild moreso around the younger guys.

Nah. Has trade value and just cannot see him ever being a premiership player. See if we can get a 2nd rounder off someone.
