Travis Casserley will have a day out on Gibbs, first rising star nomination for the year.

I think the Blues will be more worried about Foley after he cut them to ribbons out of the middle last time. Then there's the little prob of stopping Richo ;). Hopefully batman will have robin up forward with him and ready to fire too.

Round 1 games are hard to predict because teams start the year at different stages of preparation so I was being cheeky with the % line but we can't complain about the start of our draw next year if we get the poor Blues first up.

Title: Richmond plays Pies and Dons twice next year (The Age)

No place like dome for Saints

The Age

ST KILDA has been scheduled to play 13 of its 22 games at Telstra Dome next year — the most by any club since the stadium opened — while Collingwood will play 15 games at the MCG.

In its draft version of the draw, the AFL has made the Saints the night specialists, with 14 games under lights, including up to seven Friday nights and what is becoming a traditional Thursday night game at the start of the Easter weekend against the Brisbane Lions.

Collingwood's 15 MCG games consist of nine home games and six away fixtures. In all, the Magpies have one-third of the 45 regular-season games expected to be scheduled at the MCG.

Hawthorn, which has four home games in Launceston, has been given its seven remaining home games at the MCG, as it requested. The Hawks' decision to pick up St Kilda's two Tasmanian home games has allowed the Saints to play a record number of games at the Dome.

The AFL has delayed the announcement of the draw — it was to be revealed tomorrow — as it tries to make some late changes to the draft version. AFL commercial operations manager Ben Buckley said he did not expect substantial changes.

Geelong, which had been drawn to play four home games consecutively at Skilled Stadium, has asked that the AFL spread out its eight games in Geelong, instead of having them in clusters.

But the most striking feature of the provisional draw, which is unlikely to change greatly before the schedule is released, is that the clubs that play each another in the first seven rounds don't necessarily play each other twice.

In recent years, it has been uniform for each club's seven opening games to be repeated, more or less in order, from rounds 16-22.

Buckley said the new system of allowing rounds eight to 15 to be repeated allowed for a better overall draw. "The games that come in those weeks can be replayed in that last stanza as well," he said.

Next year, teams will play only some of the teams from their first seven games twice — in many cases, clubs play in rounds 11 and 12 and then in the final rounds.

In other significant features of the draw's draft version:

■ Essendon has a much stronger presence on Saturday afternoons and has been given two twilight games.

■ Richmond plays Collingwood and Essendon twice, while the Magpies, Blues and Bombers keep their twice-a-year blockbusters.

■ Collingwood plays Melbourne and Sydney twice for the first time in many years — despite those games being played in their traditional slots of round 11 (Queen's Birthday) and over the split round 12.

■ Melbourne and the Western Bulldogs will play their home games in Canberra against Sydney, which is considered the best drawing team in the nation's capital.

■ The Hawks are negotiating their four "make-up" away games that are given to members as compensation for the four Tasmanian games.

■ Geelong has been given a home game against Collingwood at the MCG, along with two Telstra Dome games and its customary eight home games at Skilled Stadium.

You're correct WP. In the Herald-Sun today it didn't list us as one of the 4 clubs playing in Tassie - Geelong, West Coast, the Kangaroos and Port Adelaide.

We play 5 times interstate next year. The membership package is for 17-games.

We play 5 times interstate next year.

If we have back-to-back interstate trips again as rumoured then we are seriously being ripped off. There's no MCG redevelopment excuse next year  ::).

According to the Budget category in the membership package, it says we will have 8 home games at the 'G and not the 9 we asked for  ::). We achieve the second highest crowd figures and best friday night tv ratings and the AFL and MCC still treat us with contempt while the Hawks with the second lowest crowds receive 7 home games despite heading to Tassie. What a joke! :banghead

We also as WP pointed out play down in Geelong again  ::).

If that's true then that is a disgrace. Actually the fact that we again travel five times in 2007 after having 6 this year is a joke :banghead :banghead

Richmond supporters are good on the phones to radio stations when we lose how about some passion in attacking the AFL when the draw comes out. An unprecedented, vitriolic, passionate attack on the draw done en masse and in unison across 3AW and SEN is whats required. Call after call attacking the unfair draw is what we need. Unless they hear us they aint ever gonna give us anything.

I'm with you on this Ramps.  Let's attack the airwaves and let the AFL know that the sleeping giant is awake and not happy.

Im starting to see something else.

Come finals time your more than likely these days to play at least one final interstate. With us having alot of interstate games during the season proper it will only help us come the pointy end of the season as opposed to Collingwood, who get easy street and hardly see a blade of grass outside the G.

Especially during these 'development' years i think its quite handy for us to give the kids as much interstate experience as possible.

who knows, maybe we'll be the ones having the last laugh on this matter  :thumbsup

That's true blx that we need to learn to just win when playing interstate just as the non-Vic clubs have. That still though doesn't stop the unfair advantage of them having 11 home games while we have only 8. We've just gone back to the original Dome deal of 3 home games there and 8 at the 'G   :scream.

We might have missed out because we only asked for 9. I wonder what would have happened if we had just asked for 11. The AFL would laugh at us but they might have considered 9 as a compromise and we might have got the 9 home games we would have been happy with next year.

Why do we always get Port away every year ::). So much for evening up the draw over 5 year cycles  :scream.

Also funny that the only interstate trip we don't get is the one we've won at over the last couple years - Brisbane at the 'Gabba  :-\.
