Title: Should trading during the draft be allowed?

The AFL website has the current poll question:

Should the NAB AFL Draft follow the NFL model and allow clubs to trade picks and players, in order to be able to move places during the actual draft?

Your guys thoughts?

Would certainly be interesting but NO

What about free agency like they have in the MLB, NFL, NBA & NHL?

I wonder how that would go in the AFL

It would have to be a decent length of time before a player became a free agent. 7 years is too short IMO. Imagine losing a player at 24 and hitting their prime  :-\. Then again how many years has Judd been in the system lol.

Yeah I would think if it was to happen in AFL the criteria would need to be 10 years.

The other thing they have in Major League Baseball is salary arbitration for those players who are not allowed to file for free agency and are tied to their club but cannot agree on monetary terms with the club. The club submits what they think is fair, then the player submits their price and an independant arbitrator rules on how much the contract will be. Staggering some of the figures ::)
