Title: My favourite Album
Post by: mightytiges on December 03, 2006, 09:19:51 PM
Ch 2 had one of those top 100 countdown shows for Australia's favourite album of all time. The top 10 were:

1. Pink Floyd — Dark Side of the Moon
2. Jeff Buckley — Grace
3. Radiohead — OK Computer
4. The Beatles — Abbey Road
5. The Beatles — Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band
6. Nirvana — Nevermind
7. Led Zeppelin — Four
8. Red Hot Chili Peppers — Blood Sugar Sex Majik
9. Meat Loaf — Bat Out of Hell
10. U2 — Joshua Tree

The top 100  is here: http://abc.net.au/myfavouritealbum/

Not that bad, really. It could have been a lot worse than that. You'll never get two people to agree on a best top 10 albums list. I was expecting "the White Album" by the Beatles to feature.

How in the hell did Delta get on that list  :rollin
She even beat the Stones with only one album rated at 95

PS:  Anyone see that pathetic excuse for entertainment, the Countdown special on ABC the other night?
No wonder we are so Americanised - our local industry is quite pathetic, sorry to say, with a few exceptions.

1 - Carole King Tapestry - first album I ever bought and still play
2 - Stevie Wonder - Songs in the Key of Life
3 - Beatles - White Album
4 - Eric Clapton - Unplugged
5 - Faith No More - Who Cares A Lot (Greatest Hits)
6 - Neil Young - Harvest
7 - Eagles - Hotel California
8 - Lauryn Hill - Miseducation of Lauryn Hill
9 - Michael Jackson - Off The Wall (his best album before he turned nuts lol)
10 - Red Hot Chili Peppers — Blood Sugar Sex Majik

Probably plenty I've missed out on - but I regularly still play these.  Used to luv Grace but hardly ever play it now, so I guess it's not a favourite. 70s child and proud of it lol

Creedence Clearwater Revival - Cosmos Factory (my first album)
Led Zeppelin - Led Zeppelin IV
AC/DC - High Voltage

See, that wasn't too hard, WP lol
I find criticism of one's tastes as on some forums pretty ordinary - each to their own I reckon and whatever turns you on has to be good.  Who really cares if they don't like our tastes or not.
Having said that, ABBA hey - hmmm  :shh lol
