Title: Kingsley has stitched up a spot according to the Sunday Mail
Post by: one-eyed on December 10, 2006, 01:29:36 AM
From Adelaide's Sunday Mail:

Quote
Geelong forward Kent Kingsley is likely to have his AFL career extended by Richmond at Tuesday's pre-season draft.

Kingsley is one of 20 players who have previously been on an AFL list training at clubs after being cut at the end of the 2006 season.

Kingsley, 28, was one of the few invited to join the Tigers and appears to have stitched up a third home after previously playing with the Kangaroos and Geelong.

SEN this morning were saying there's still talk about who we'll take but Kingsley is pretty much locked in.

They seem to believe PSD pick-ups get offered 2-year deals albeit it can be on small money (so a player can still be paid out after one year). I can't imagine us offering Kingsley 2 years ???.

I always though that in the PSD unless a de-listed player puts a price on his head then the player and the club were free to negoiate a deal - a bit like what Carlton's done with Ackland.

If it's a compulsory 2 year deal it would be have to be a base contract.

I am actually more interested in what we are going to do with our rookie picks because I reckon Kingsley is a given. My reasoning is based simply on if we weren't going to take him I doubt that he'd still be training with us - that just wouldn't make sense ;D but this is footy I suppose and lots of stuff just doesn't make sense ::) ;D

Cheers WP  :). That's what I always thought happened too.

The AFL have nicely set up Kingsley's first game for us against his old side down at the cattery.
