Title: Petition the AFL for Geelong Game
Post by: Moi on December 17, 2006, 09:04:55 PM
Come on people, get on board and send abusive emails to the AFL and get them to change that Geelong match on 4 August to Telstra Dome.  It's free and more people will get a chance to see the game.  Last time I went to Geelong I nearly had a heart attack after Bully made me walk that rotten big hill to the ground  :whistle  A bit hard to smoke when you can't breathe lol

Are you setting up a petition to send to the AFL Moi?

It's a joke a big supported club like ours plays down there in a "stadium" that holds just 23,000. Mind you Wallace coached teams have a good record at Kardinia park.

I'll be sending my own emails, but if you wanna petition, I reckon I could do one.
If we don't do it now, it'll be too late during the season.
Last two times we've played down there they've been sellouts
They have Melbourne based supporters and they play here lots, so it's no skin off their nose.

I'll start an email and send to all my RFC friends and see where it goes.

Geelong themselves have said they wanted home games in Melbourne against big crowd drawing clubs for the $$$.

Last couple of years, we've played so many interstate games - the AFL owes us something

I'll be in it for sure - I would of sworn the last time I was there was the last (on a winning note mind you)

E-mail the club and see if you get any stuff then put the feelers out on other sites - gotta be worth a try. :santa

Have emailed the club.  I'll let you know if I get a response.

If you contact someone at the club directly you've got a reasonable chance of receiving a reply.

I don't think the club is too pleased about it either but they cannot really do anything.

They can complain to the AFL and request that not to play there but in the end it's up to the league. It's like the Club asking for 9 MCG home games and only ending up with 8.

The AFL have more pressing issues - they are trying to count their TV & Radio rights bootie but cannot seem to get past 100 ;D

Further proof the game should be moved  ::)

Fans locked out for Cats-Tigers clash

A STAFFING mix-up meant thousands of fans missed the start of today's round-one NAB Cup match between Geelong and Richmond at Skilled Stadium.

Only two gates were open and the queues of fans outside were stretching for several hundred metres at the first bounce.

Geelong is the ground tenant and it is understood it was up to the local council to decide on ground staffing.

Ticket sales are cash only, meaning Cats members could not use their membership cards to enter.

Fans were let in for free, five minutes into the game.

Yes after today's fiasco - they shouldn't have games there - SERIOUSLY.

And can you beleive that I heard one ground official say - you may have to queue a while but once you get in you can sit wherever you like - what a comfort :wallywink

Spam them with multiple emails. At least you'll grab their attention :D.

Seriously why are we forced to play down there when these queue problems happen every time. You don't see other large supported clubs scheduled to travel to Kardinia Park.

Andy Demetriou has confirmed there'll be no refunds for those who went to the game yesterday.
