Lmao at me finding this question quite difficult.
I think Polo and Tambo could become great midfielders, and for their experience I'd say Foley and Lids are on their way to the top. But I can't choose one, it's between Cogs, Lids and Foley  :-\

Based on the second half of 2006 I went for Foley. Cogs, Tuck, Lids, Sugar and Tivs averaged more disposals last year but Foley IMO was more effective with his clearance work and he was flying at training before Christmas. Lids and Tambo won't be far away this year now they've bulked up more in the upper body.

Cogs fit is our best midfielder.

There will be decent competition in future years though

Sugar by some distance. :thumbsup

Highly respected by the coaching staff and opposition players.

Can win his own ball as was evidenced pre '06 or strangle other teams best players out of the game as we saw last season.

He never shirks it and carries out instruction to the letter. Despite an ordinary kicking action, statistically he makes few errors.
If he has a weakness he needs to be more damaging offensively.

Still our no1 IMO but that hopefully will change in 07.

From the establish more senior players I agree with Mr Magic and would say Sugar. If Brown played there 70% of the time I go with him

From the young blokes - I think Foley (though his disposal by foot need improving) with Deledio and Polo not far behind.

Lids needs to do better in the goal conversion stakes

Sure he wins his own ball but its what he does with it after that, that bothers me. I don't doubt and never have his commitment and clubmanship. He tries his guts out every game, is a great tagger when given the role but his slow decision making and poor footskills can really kill us at times.

I went for Lids! :thumbsup

Each to their own Tiga but Deledio is not in Suga's class as a midfielder yet.

He has a weakness in his defensive game and if you want to look at a player with questionable disposal then Deledio still has some work ahead of him in that area too. As I said Johnson may look ungainly but his error rate is low. He can also play inside or out and Deledio (rightly due to his age) hasn't been exposed to the grunt yet. In fact he's spent very little time in the middle at all too date.

Deledio will likely be a very good player for us in a season or two but he has to get the runs on the board first. Sugar has plenty of those and two premierships to boot. He is the captain of the club for good reason.

Not suggesting Brett can't be a superstar, just don't be blinded by the hype.
We have all to often fallen to that in the past by overating our players too early. 8)

The only player I would have ahead of Johnson is Coughlan when fit.
However that's been a rare event over three season now, so his ranking drops. :-[
