Have a friend in Kenya who was involved in a bit of an incident in Nairobi.
She was travelling in a car which was hijacked, and all four in the vehicle were shot.
One dead, two badly injured after being shot in the mouth and my friend was the luckiest ::) who was shot in the arm.
You hear about the advisories - i wonder how many take them seriously.
Crossing Kenya off my travel itinerary >:(

It's not nicknamed Nairobbery for nothing. Bloody dangerous place. A bloke I know was mugged by a cop there about 10 years ago :help.

Be careful also if you are going down to Geelong this year ......
IM SERIOUS ;D

Yep, just looked at the DFAT site and it said "Do not travel"
I won't :(

Johannesburg is another popular African city to avoid.

LOL
Apparently there's plenty of imposters down that way pretending to be AFL footballers ;D

Doesn't X live in Geelong? ;)

Moi, if you get a chance, watch the movie Blood Diamond if you haven't already. This film will turn you off travelling to anywhere in Africa.
I have work associates in South Africa and even they carry a glock for protection on the streets of Joburg. They also say to steer clear of any black tarago's as there is usually a whole lot of pain and automatic weapons inside them. Indiscriminate killing occurs on a daily basis.

My advice is don't travel to the Big Pineapple. No danger, just don't do it.
Is your friend ok, Moi? That's pretty scary.

Shame because I'm half South African and would one day like to see the place.
My friend got shot in the wrist. Still in hospital but is doing okay.
They must have tried to shoot her in the face the same as the others, but brought up her hand in defence and got shot in the wrist.
Despite how horrific it must have been for her, to me she is the luckiest girl in the world at the moment.
One of the nicest ppl you ever wanna meet :thumbsup
