Any other notable Tigers of Italian decent apart from Ian Stewart?

A gala event at the Crown Casino in May will determine the AFL’s ‘Italian Team of the Century’ with the selection process well under way.
AFL Hall of Fame Legend Ron Barassi is the Chairman of Selectors and subsequent ‘coach’ of the side, while Kevin Sheedy, Bob Skilton and Brendon Gale are amongst a group of selectors.
The criteria for selection is as follows:
* The player must have played senior VFL/AFL football
* He is either Italian-born or a first or second-generation Australian of Italian origin (ie. at least one of his parents and/or grandparents, paternal or maternal, is Italian-born).
Some famous names feature in nomination including Robert DiPierdomenico, Peter Matera, Saverio Rocca, Sergio and Stephen Silvagni and Ian Stewart.
Current players such as Nick Dal Santo, Scott Camporeale, Brendan Fevola and Mark Ricciuto are also nominated.

Merenda was a true italian! as he is SICILIAN!!!!!
FORZA SICILIA!!!

Well then how can he be a true Italian? I didn't know you could be Italian and Sicilian at the same time. Or is that like us claiming certain Kiwis to be Australian when they originated from NZ (eg Russell Crowe, Finn Brothers).

no similarity what so ever!
if u know anything about italy, and its real history, u will find that the italian language, was born in sicilly , not florence. italy began in sicily , not rome! and also , the very first parliament in the world was established in palermo, sicily , 100 yrs b4 any other country. thats right england and france were way behing italy when it came to developing parliament and the upper and lower house system
the first catholic church , was born in siracusa, an underground church, and where is siracusa, yes sicily.
and also, where was thE mafia born ......SICILY!
thats just naming just a few things
NOTHING TO DO WITH THE RELATIONSHIP B/W AUS AND NZ!
:thumbsup

Yes I knew that about the mafia. So are you are true Italian? You say that it is nothing like Aust and NZ - so is it more like India & Pakistan?

nothing like india and pakistan, those countries were once all india, but religion created a border and divided them. thus u have the muslim country of pakistan.
sicily is an island off the mainland, the distance b/w them is a 5 minute fairy ride/boat ride. if the current wasnt so strong u could swim across it. it so small a bridge could easily be built, the distance b/w phillip island and the mainland is bigger. But th emafia of sicily and calabria control the fairies than gop across every 10 minutes, and they will not let the governent build a bridge what so ever!
