Title: New look AFL site
Post by: mightytiges on February 22, 2007, 01:50:50 PM
The AFL site has a new look. The menu bar has improved in terms of finding things but some things never change lol.

Where will Collingwood finish this year?

1 - 4 (257)  235.78%
5 - 8 (535)  490.83%
9 - 12 (975)  894.50%
13 - 16 (640)  587.16%

Still as slow as anything  :P.

LOL 632  ;D

Positives IMO:

- The setout has improved and at least is closer in presentation to other major sporting websites (but still below par).

- The menu bars are much more user friendly. You no longer have to wage from one page to another to find something obvious (eg: U18 champs or historical stats)

Negatives:

- Get rid of that Bigpond crap from the top. You don't see nfl.com have the maker of their site's logo the same size as the NFL logo. It's meant to be the official AFL's site; not Telstra's  ::). All that bigpond stuff could go down the bottom of the page.

- Too many advertisements. At the top, bottom and in the middle of the page.

- Why did they get rid of the club logos?

- Still club members can't access video unless they have bigpond but that's not going to change while Telstra runs these sites.

Sack Telstra and get hire someone decent who can design a proper site for a major sporting organisation without all the Bigpond and ad crap that crashes it  :banghead.

At the moment I access the news page on the AFL site so I can at least read the articles - http://www.afl.com.au/news/tabid/72/default.aspx

I might try later updating IE7 or trying a different browser and see if that fixes the problem.
