CARLTON'S promise to bring Carlton people back to the club will be honoured in Round 1 when legendary ruckman John Nicholls' career will be celebrated.

The Blues are commemorating the 50-year anniversary of Big Nick's first game – in Round 1, 1957, against Hawthorn – which began a stunning career spanning 328 matches.

They hope to get Nicholls to lead out the team against Richmond for the MCG twilight clash on April 1.

Laurie could "meet" The Big Sook at the Carlton banner. Neil Balme could then follow up with a special meet and greet session with the Carlton backline.

1973 Richmond premiership player. Up ended Big John Nicholls with a beautiful  ;D hip and shoulder early in that Grand Final. Nicholls got up and kicked a goal from the free but he was ineffective for the rest of the game. A classic moment in VFL/AFL history.
