Listening to MMM on the way home from the game today, JB mentioned that the word around the traps is that Adelaide are VERY keen to get Ottens for next season but dont want to give away draft picks for him.
After thinking about this and watching tonights game between the crows and freo, i think a couple of the following players would be ok in return for Ottens:
Brent Reilly: Melbourne boy who has taken time to develop, but looks set to become a very good midfielder. Now takes the kick outs for the crows also, so has good disposal.
Furgus Watts: Very promising CHF, who really works hard and presents well. Once he gets a bit of size about him looks like he could tear a game apart.
Brett Burton: At full flight the "Birdman" can be a very damaging player off a wing. Racks up a lot of touches when in form and as we know can take a grab and kick a goal.
There is also the posibility that another club may become involved and throw in a draft pick. But i think i would be fairly happy with 2 of the above players.
What are you thoughts on what we should ask for in return.

Can his mum be included in the trade deal ? lol
-
lol ;D
-
Adelaide and Port are keen for Brad but when they we made aware that his Mum was part of the deal, they informed Brad to keep going West and go to freo or West Coast, lol
-
She even scares Mark Williams lol

Johncock and Biglands for the fairy tapper would be nice.

If we got a player named Johncock, I would hazard a guess that you would react like your avatar again John... ;D

just think about all the potential jokes we could make... would be great.

Brett Burton - Gawd NO! :o Sorry Bulluss I have to disagree with you on this one. We have enough one "flash in a pan" game every blue moon players as it is. He reminds me alot of Tivas. Is flying when the Crows are/were winning but has very little influence when the Crows really need him to step up. He would be good for a top side that needs just that added bit of spark and non-predictability and where he can feed off the collective hard work of the top ball-winners.
Otto is definitely someone I would want to see under our next coach and under a number of modern game plans. Also would help if we actually had a specialist ruck coach down at the club ::).
If Otto says he wants to leave only then let him go. High draft picks are what we need so we should demand the SA clubs or any other club for that matter to cough up if they want him. 2 fringe or b-grade players at best from another club in return is a no-no. We are not a charity.

if we got Reilly or Watts for Ottens we would be laughing all the way to the bank,
I have been bagging Ottens all year and ppl have told me how insane i am, well how can someone get 40 hitouts yet we still loose in the centre breaks and takeways? the guy is a dud.
-
I'd rather Ottens get 20 hitouts and about 17-18 disposals per match than get a stack of hitouts and 13 disposals, which is what he has been doing all year.
There is no questioning that he is great at out-positioning other ruckmen and getting first hand to the ball. However most of the hitouts are either directionless or directed at a player right at his feet who will get tackled straight away. As such, nearly all of his tap outs are neutralised. That leaves his 13 disposals per game, which isn't enough.
Trade for Biglands and Johncock. Biglands can stay in the ruck for 4 or so years, whilst we draft another young ruckman who steps up as Biglands starts to fade. Johncock will be a great player for 10 years.

Excellent idea JohnF,
someone needs to email this to miller.
Seriously at least Biglands can thump the ball 20 meters from the centre bounces, and johncock is a freaky kind of player.

Hey PRR, you arent insane, you are spot on about the Dud, thats one of the many reason we are second last on the ladder and will stay there putting up with the Brad Ottens of this world. ;)

If we were to trade him to Adelaide Brent Reiley would be an absolute must , plus at least on reasonably promising young player..
Problem is their young stocks seem as ordinary as ours plus i would imagine most are SA so would not want to come over here to play with us..
If Adelaide arent prepared to give us quality in return for him let him go i nthe draft like Port did with Stevens..
In defence of Ottens ruckwork though he has been playing to instructions , apparantley a few weeks back he punched it forward a few times in stead of tapping it and was told of by the coaching staf..
Like everyone else i am dubious about keeping underperforming players in the hope that under a better coach that they will perform better but if their is one player i would like to keep and take the chance he will improve it is Brad. Lets face it with spud as coach and a ruck coach like Stewie Loewe(and now none) is it any wonder he has been ordinary???

Johncock signed a new contract for Adelaide a few weeks ago,and therefore is untradeable under the AFLs rules until the end of next season.
If Adelaide dont want to give up decent draft picks then Michael Tuck em.
We will dictate where he goes for the best trade deal if he wants out.
