Along with Jeff White in the ruck :-\, if we can limit Robertson, Bruce, McLean and Davey we'll go along way to giving us a good chance of getting our first win for the year with the Dees without Neitz and Johnstone. Robertson got away from Joel last time despite Joel having 31 possies himself.
So who do you folks think will get the jobs on these four?

I reckon give Jacko the job on Bruce, Johnson gets McLean and i'd stick King onto Davey, and get him to get under his skin, Davey gets distracted very easily.
Robertson, well with Neitz out we have a few options. I'd try Will first, then we have Bowden if things get out of control.

Robertson kicked 5 on Bowden last year. Joel showed him his back for the entire game, no thanks.

Agreed.
You need a player who will make stopping Robbo his number one priority so i would go will Thursty.
Tiv could run with McLean.
I would also use King on Davey. King towelled Davey up in the practise game pre-season so he would fear him.
As for Bruce, i would go head to head with Deledio on him.

Plough needs to dictate the game on his terms and not Danihers.
If i was plough, this is what would occur. would suggest the only way to beat melbourne would to try and get Bruce to play behind the ball, otherwords leaving just Davey and Robertson to kick a winning score, for this to happen, you will need to play Polak and or Bowden inside our F 50, very ratical but whats to lose. If Polak/ Bowden did go forward, it would turn into a game of "chess"" thus dragging Bruce back?
With Neitz not playing, would think that Daniher would try and play Bruce as a ""hit-up"" forward with Roberston playing out of goal square.
You might find it might be a low scoring game.

It was low scoring last year too. We only kicked 3 goals to 3/4 time yet still only lost by 18 points in a shocking game :P
Agree Jack, Daniher will want to use Bruce as a hit-up forward. He did it earlier in the year when both Neitz and Robertson were out injured. I think Plough could push Polak forward especially if it stays wet with his good hands but he seems to love having Joel as our "quarterback".
Robertson - Thursty
Davey - King
McLean - Jacko
Bruce - Bowden
The midfield is my main concern. Melbourne's runners could give us a nice touch up again if Jeff White gives them first use. Our mids are again going to have read White's tapwork.

Can tell you MT, Plough wont use Bowden on Robertson ;)

Smart move.

After last years spray ::)
-
king to davey
Jackson to McLean - it that doesn't work then Suga is choice number 2
Bowden to Bruce
Thursty to Robertson - but Will needs to be on song from the first bounce IMHO - he's started oall his games rather slowly
-
Plough really needs to ""roll the dice "" this week.
Needs to push Bowden forward and or Polak,
Needs to outsmart Daniher, if he doesnt, he will get beat.
If Bruce plays forward, game over!

Agree Jack. It's roll the dice vs priority pick :eyebrow

Flea said on SEN tonight that he reckons we'll go with Thursty on Robertson and
Bowden on Neitz if Neitz plays. There's a meeting tomorrow morning to discuss both scenarios (with/without Neitz).
Joel famously got 2 brownlow votes last time despite Robbo getting the 3 votes but Flea said Joel didn't get any B&F votes. As Jack has already mentioned the coach was furious at Joel for playing so loose on Robbo.
Browny to be used sparingly but it will take a good defender to mind him. Nathan Thompson said we should play Browny one out near the goalsquare when he's on the ground.
