The club still can't keep its big fat mouth shut  ::).

Laidley said he and his assistant coaches concentrated on psychologically preparing the players, who were already match-hardened after building a solid fitness base since October last year.

He said the focus was heightened after stuff from the Tigers that the Roos might not be ready for a tough contest under the closed roof.

"I know the opposition assistant coaches were pretty confident during the week, thought we perhaps weren't going to be ready to go," Laidley said.

"We kept getting told that through some of their assistant coaches, but we like to think we're a bit better than that.

People at the club should realise it is 2007 and not 1974 and therefore everything we say cannot be backed up with deeds on the field. Wake up please..................... :banghead

We have a history of doing this with North. Who can forget Spud in his 2nd or 3rd game as coach mouthing off at North's 3/4 time huddle calling them too old and slow and then North coming out and slamming on 7 goals  :P.  If we believed North would be off their game after Archer's 300th then why tell them beforehand  ???. You don't give your opponent a reason to get motivated. We're not in a position to sledge.

That North game in Rd 3 2000 we were behind all night in a close game and were 7 points down at 3 qt time with a bit of momentum. North were winless at that stage and had had a fair rub of the green with the umpires.
Spud ran down the stairs mouthing off to Denis Pagan and the North boys who conveniently went on to score 7 straight to 1.7 in the last quarter on their way to a 20.14.134 to 27.8.170 win.
