Title: Proposed email to Greg Miller
Post by: mightytiges on July 28, 2004, 01:19:01 PM
Dear Greg,

With all the negative publicity in the media, leaked private emails, idiotic petitions, alternative tickets and threats of an EGM at a crucial time in our Club's history, we as a group of fed up RFC members felt the need to email you and offer our 100% support towards yourself and all the hard work you are doing to get our Club out of the 20+ year mire it has been in. We value immensely your impartiality and being able to look at our Club objectively as an outsider sees the club, something we just cannot do. The thought that the current mess could result in your departure from Tigerland, the loss of bargaining power to recruit talented players (eg: Travis Cloke) and the real threat that we as a Club will once again miss out on the best coach available is an absolute disgrace. And the unthinkable - indeed, the immediate future of our club seems dire as a result of the current unrest.

After living through the past 20 years of, to put it bluntly, crap, we totally sympathise with your anger and frustrations towards
certain individuals and minority groups who blindly continue to force their own destructive agenda and hold the future of the Richmond football club once again to ransom for their own egotistical and selfish reasons. These people don't speak for us. Unfortunately we as a Club at times are our own worst enemy. Although your email should have remained private, at least some home truths about the Club were finally aired.

We cannot control what people think about the Club on our forum - oneeyed-richmond.com - and nor do we want to - however we do support and respect the privacy of people's personal thoughts expressed in such letters and if any such material was to air itself on our forum, the administrators would delete it immediately.

Hang in there Greg. We're right behind you. Please stay on for the sake of the Richmond Football Club.

Yours the Tiger faithful,

        (Names)

We plan to send this email off as soon as possible. It was written before the truce today but we still think it's important to voice that we are not happy with what has lead to the current climate and to fly the flag. Thanks to WP and froars for their help and opinions.

Let us know what you think.

Under (Names), I'll be using my real name in the email but I'll leave it up to everyone's own preference to either use their OER "nic" or their real name. We realise people like to protect their anonymity on the net. If you do want to use your real name PM me or email us at admin@oneeyed-richmond.com.

Cheers, MT.

While you're at it, ask him WTF is all this I read about in the Sun today that he's opened a juice bar business with several Richmond players.

Dont these fkrs make enough money playing footy? And really badly at that!!! Tell him to keep his mind on the footy and not worry about extra curricular business ventures with players because:

1) they're making enough money
2) they're not doing their jobs properly anyway
3) if he's partnering in business with the players outside of footy, it affects his ability to manage them within the club

Sorry guys I cant be a part of this one.......
I refuse to support it as it portrays Miller as being clean as a whistle when he has a role (and blame) like the all the others in this.

Who would you put in his place OM21?  You must have an alternative.

I'm with OM21.

If Miller wants to be there for the RFC then I will support him.  If he wants to be there for Greg Miller then he knows where the door is.

I wasn't impressed with his email stunt.  Sounded too desperate for my liking and didn't make him appear as the professional that he's supposed to be.

If he is such a professional then he doesn't need fan letters.

Brisbane won 3 flags in a row without Millers help.

Whatever Harry.  I'm sure Greg knows there's people who don't support him.
And personally, i don't care if he's there for himself or the club - i think both go hand in hand when you're aiming for success.  As long as he gets the job done.

Millers heart is in the job, he wants to make it work.

Do you think he didnt know that Pahoff would post his letter on PRE, Miller is a very smart operator and is the man WE NEED to get us back to the top and become a force in the AFL once again.

I’m with you Bullus.  Miller knew exactly what he was doing.  Pahoff seems to have made everything else he was doing public knowledge.  So he would’ve at least half expected what would happen to his letter.

Even if he didn’t expect that it would be posted in full, he had to know that the contents would be made public, to some degree.

Yesterday, Pahoff tried to justify his actions by saying that he was damned if he did and damned if he didn’t post the letter.  Because if he didn’t post it he could be accused of a lack of transparency, which is what he’s accusing the current Board of.  And that Miller had made a sneaky chess move by sending the letter to him.

Don’t ask me, that’s something like what he said.

Did I hear mention of pahoff being Transparent?!!?

Please!

Miller is the man for the job! Have faith people!

What smart move by Miller.

All he did was threaten to leave because it was getting a bit too much for him.

Members have a right to ask questions, have a right to demand accountability and transperancy, have a right to call an EGM within the constitution.

Millers email was a bit childish and unprofessional.  It smacked on emotional blackmail which really didn't earn him much respect in my books.

I will still support him and hope he can improve the club but a few things have not impressed me so far.

1) Telling the supporters from day one to pull their heads in and be paid up
2) Extending Frawley's contract and insisting he is a good coach
3) Recruiting excessive mid aged duds during his time - Fletcher, Nicholls, Shir, Pickering, Fletcher, Weller, Morrison, Marsh (that's only in 2 years)
4) Selling our souls in the form of early draft picks for Johnson and Brown in the search of intant success.  The performances of the past 2 years proved he was way off the mark in terms of expecting these players to instantly improve the team.
5) His recent email stunt attempting to emotionally blackmail the richmond members in an attempt to save his and Caseys positions.

I'm with the Hedgehog, he's the best man for the job, but he shouldnt be given a license to kill.

Miller is not going to save RFC all by himself. And he's not shown me that he wants to bring in the best ppl available around the AFL in the football dept. He made absolutely no effort to talk to Sheeds whilst the opportunity was there.

Promoting Hutchison as football manager? WTF!!!

Recruiting Brittain as midfield coach? WTF!!!

His recruiting is not flawless either. Everyone talks about kids who are playing their footy at Coburg and are 2-3 years away before we can decide whether we've unearthed another Coughlan. What about Blumfeld, another so called Miller coup?

Isnt Greg Beck still there?

He's not the messiah. You need 3 Miller types to in the football dept (coach, manager and recruitment) to make it successful. And Miller's making sure he's the only one.

No, i like Miller.  I got to, because there's no-one else.  But i admit some of the things you said:

Quote
3) Recruiting excessive mid aged duds during his time - Fletcher, Nicholls, Shir, Pickering, Fletcher, Weller, Morrison, Marsh (that's only in 2 years)
4) Selling our souls in the form of early draft picks for Johnson and Brown in the search of intant success.  The performances of the past 2 years proved he was way off the mark in terms of expecting these players to instantly improve the team.

I've been arguing the same case for a while.

But the Pahloff letter was a personal letter and one that we shouldn't even be discussing becasue it should have remained quiet.  pahloff could have been open and said he received a letter from Miller and maybe paraphrased it a bit.  Don't think Miller's private thoughts should have been put for the world to see.

It seems alot of supporters are bagging Greg Miller, but at the same time endorsing Terry Wallace who i think we all should be sceptical of in my opinion.
Granted he might have done some good for the bulldogs, i;m not sure he is the answer to our coaching position at this stage, mind you i could be wrong.
I will Greg  Miller 1 thing he has a passion to get things right at the tigers, and i;m sure there will be mistakes made along the way, he did state it would not be a quick fix.

1) Telling the supporters from day one to pull their heads in and be paid up
2) Extending Frawley's contract and insisting he is a good coach

Ive argued these two for ages, especially Point 1. I got so frustratede when he came out in the papers last week and told the fans to stop whinging. I felt like doing what Bulluss wants to do to Pahoff  :shh

froars, who should we replace him with? To be honest, I dont have a problem with his credentials...and I dont mind him staying as long as he doesnt have his head up his ass. I want him to be smart about things and not use politics like threats and stuff to get people onside. He knows that he has done it before and he knows that our supporters know that so he taps that a few times to drum up support but threatening to leave.

If he wants to leave....leave.
If he wants to stay......stay.

Miller didnt write that letter for Pahoff. He wrote it for Schwab.

He's a smart operator. He just needs to focus his talents on the footy, and stay out of the politics.

Spoke to Greg Miller tonight and he was rapt in getting the email of support from us.
Said it beat all the negative ones he receives lol
First time i've met him, and i think he thought I was a loop on my drafting philosophies - but hey Greg, you wouldn't be the first to think that  ;D
He seems a nice bloke, and I like what he's doing at the club - he certainly is a big positive for this club at the moment IMO even if he doesn't agee with me lol
Whenever we used to have a really bad loss, i used to ring up the receptionist at RFC and wished her a happy day, cos i knew she'd be having a horrible day answering angry supporters.
Can you imagine the emails Greg has to reply to now that people have computers and found this easy way to abuse the club.  Mind boggling when you think he actually answers all of them.
Anyway, he did get our email and seemed pleased with the support.
