Walls and Shaw are going to town on us on 3aw. Saying we haven't improved in 3 years, we have no youngsters to take us to a higher level and become 200 game players for us, Foley and King work their guts out but will they take you to another level, Rainesy is no longer a youngster so he doesn't count, Polak gets the easiest job in footy playing as a loose man.
-
Would think that Edwards and Foley is where we need to start.. We can build a future on them 2 , no doubt
Have been listerning to Tony Shaw and I reckon he nearly on the money.
Tony Shaw tipped us for the spoon at the start of the year as he is no doubt aware of the problems with the current list and the overall game plan.
now what did happen to the 100 points a game and the run and carry gamplan ? thrown right out the door never to return

Hey 1965, I am not the one bagging Walls or Shaw.
You are.
Would think there opinions are bascially right, if you dont like the truth, thats your problem pal.
And furthermore, I am a Richmond supporter and have been all my life.
I dont think the current gameplan and list management are working.
As for on field performance, we have gone backwards and thats a fact.
The recruiting has been terrible since Plough took over. Every clubs would have picked Lids at Pick 1 so whoppe Do. The problems was with the picks afterwards and has been very other year. e.g/ Jarrod Oakley Nichols, Meyer etc etc
As Ramps says, you might find the ""honeymoon"" period will be over at years end and hard decsions will be delivered by the commitee.
2011 is looking like 2015 at this rate.

Spot on.
Show me a club where every recruit has turned into a superstar and I'll eat your turds, X lol
These jerks in Shaw and Walls change their mind every week depending on which way the wind is blowing.
We have a good game, we've got great youngsters.
We get beaten by a more experienced, bigger unit who've reaped the benefits of tanking for a few years, while we tried to remain competitive and suddenly our kids are shiit ::)
We've got some good ones coming through, but if we had have tanked like they did, we would probably be in a better position now.
But the Richmond supporters went, over my dead body should we tank. So we get the draft picks that we've got.
And the blind, biased, anti-Wallace, anti-Richmond theorists will take advantage of that.
Someone please tell me that they would have preferred to have the list we had three years ago and kept on topping up? Or did they prefer we took this direction, getting rid of players that were going nowhere (90% of the list) knowing that not every selection we picked was going to be a superstar, but was better than sticking with the players we had at the time.
The trouble is, as the year goes on, I think we'll see probably worse performances. Those that have carried us this year have pretty young legs. Some of them have been extraordinary in the way they've gone about it, but there are limits.
At least give these kids a few more years before bringing out the knives. They don't deserve it in what they've given this year. Save it for those that should be playing better that ain't!

How many rising star nominations have we got this year people?
-
your theory Moi goes straight out the window.
Kent Kingsley and Mark Grahram.
Forgot Paddy Bowden ::)
And the ins next week will be Kingsley, Bowden and Krak ::)

And you want the King of Recruiting Recycled Hacks to coach our club!
Think of your own theories!
-
Raines is 21 this year he is a youngster , more so than king and foley(23 and 22)
As for his overall comment absolute rubbish , while our recruiting has been disappointing to suggest we have no 200 game youngster is rubbish..
The guy is an oxygen thief...

Thats not point, This has nothing to do with anyone esle but Terry wallace. Dont deflect Moi
. Should of been a youth policy from the day he walked into the place ala Alistair Clarkson
Hawks are miles ahead of us.- and there recruits are good. They are mostly strong bigger build players, not the light weights we have recruited
2011 is more like 2015

NIL

Interestingly Walls in answering a caller who suggested that the 3AW commentators and the media in general treat Tezza a protected species said that 1/ that he believed Terry was copping his fair share of criticism and 2/ and this was the interesting bit he also said that perhaps Terry is also paying for the team doing better then what most people thought he would in his first 2 years and that 6 months ago people probably thought the Tigers were going OK. What this year has proved Walls reckons is that there is a lot of gaps in our list.......
Hmmmm IIRC thats what our coach has being saying for the last 18 months.
As for who will play 200 games of our current kids..
Let me see....
Foley
Raines
Deledio
Tambling
Thursfield
Edwards
Reiwoldt
Newman
Polo
Want me to go on and I reckon there's a good bet Jake King will make it too.
-

How can you say we don't have a youth policy when we have the 3rd or 2nd youngest list in the comp? Yep it's younger than the Hawks.
As for Graham - that was actually a good pick up for us because it meant a kid like McGuane got time to develop at Coburg because let's be honest here in 2005 he was not ready for AFL footy physically
-
He should of cleaned the list out from Day 1.
Bringing Paddy Bowden big mistake, dogs were rapt to show him the door.
As for Jay Schultz, owed the club big time and hasnt delivered. Should of been shown the door back when we lost the sponsorship but still we persist

iirc, terry turned over 13 players in his first yr , how many more could he get rid of.
when there are contratcs and afl rules regulating how many changes a yr a team can make.
u cant just wipe out 30 players and start fresh by bringing 30 in in 1 yr.
tool!
-
my thoughts WP;
Foley looks better than Libba and may play more than his 283 games
Raines Seems one dimensional this season and needs to add other aspects to his game to be a 200 game player
Deledio Yep
Tambling Is now struggling to get a game in the bottom side. Doubtful for 200
Thursfield bit early, looks a great long term prospect though, was outmuscled today and needs to work on that
Edwards I'd put him in the Chris Naish 150 odd game category- at the moment.
Reiwoldt Loooong way to go, no reason why he couldn't though, all the ingredients are there.
Newman :thumbsup
Polo needs to bulk up a bit to help withstand the dangerous situations he gets himself into otherwise he'll be lucky to get to 100
Want me to go on and I reckon there's a good bet Jake King will make it too.
I'd like to see Chris Hyde take that next step and become another that gets 200.
Problem is though is that there is too many midgets, not enough strong bodied, bigger midfielders, no coggers & the late/non onset of JON is a bummer in that regard, so Walls and or Shaw are probably right, with our list we are going to struggle to get 'stayers' that will last the distance.

Well said
-
Not many players make it to 200 games in general. How many would most clubs have on their list now ? three or four ?
So to say only two of the current kids would just be on the average.
-
Walls & Shaw are blowing wind up everyones asses every week
most champions struggle to 200 games & rarely get 250 games
Walls is the biggest rubbish talker in football today & is often a critic by the fellow media himself his such a fool
Caro & Wallsy should knock up could you imagine the love child ;D
-
The Ox (David Schwarz version) on SEN had his say on the Tigers just now. Basically said he can't see where we are heading while bemoaning our poor footskills. All clubs have youngsters coming through so you just can't pin your hopes on them.

I wouldn't listen to any so called media experts when they talk about the kids at a club around the bottom of the ladder. They are always crap ::)
but if we had say 5 or 6 wins which we actually could have at this stage, there would be none of this bs coming from messrs walls and shaw

It's amazing that just 17 months later the media are calling us an exciting up and coming team. That we have some of the best young defenders, that us and Carlton are the most likely from the bottom 8 to jump into the top 8 in '09 and they all drool uncontrollably over Cotchin.

It just goes to show how easy it is to be an 'expert' footy commentator these days. Their predictions show no more insight or foresight than the average supporter who posts on forums like this. In fact it's less as at least we take interest in Coburg as well as Richmond each and every week to get an overall impression of the state of our list and each individual player. The likes of Shaw or a Walls just judge by the current results, ladder positions and name/profile players they know. Who can't turn up to games and state the bleeding obvious when teams are winning/losing :sleep. I give more dues to Emma Quayle and Burgatron as reporters as with the draft they make a investigated effort to get what they predict and publish as close to what eventually happens.

Thats rubbish by the OX. Terry has deliberatly been improving our footskills, if we aren't the best its not because Terry hasn't been trying to improve them. We came from a long way back in that dept.

Don't forget Jake Niall, I give him a lot of dues personally.
What we do need is excellence and this redevelopment of Punt Road will help that happen in the off field area, injuries, fitness etc.
I think we should make the 8 this year, but I'm not expecting top 4.
