Bouncing the ball option
18 July 2007 Herald Sun
Daryl Timms
BOUNCING the ball at the top of the goal square after a rushed behind could be considered by the AFL laws of the game committee.
The AFL wants input from clubs and players as it gathers reports on three key issues - interchange, rushed behinds and kicking backwards.
AFL football operations manager Adrian Anderson said last night bouncing the ball at the top of the goal square after a rushed behind was one suggestion.
"I suspect that's one of the options that will come out of our consultation process," he told 3AW.
Anderson said the laws committee would look at the VFL rule which sees umpires call play on when the ball is kicked backwards and marked in a team's defensive half.
