According to McRae, Peterson had 18 disposals in the first half last week before the opposition tagged him. No wonder WP said he blitzed.

Danny had 5 contested "gets" and 4 tackles. More the reason to play him on ball and not on a HFF :yep

Andy Collins in the Age:

Today, the VFL's danger side, Coburg, hosts the Box Hill Hawks, who will try to bounce back from a dispiriting loss to last-placed Tasmania last weekend. The Tigers are chasing their first premiership since 1989, but Andy Collins is taking it one game at a time.

"It's such a close competition. The nature of the VFL is that there are massive swings in players, with players coming in and out due to form and injury. We have made a number of changes this week but I do think the conditions will suit us."

we have nothing to lose, if jon, connors, peterson and myer all play well today, we should play them in the tigers for the rest of the yr and drop tuck, tiv hyde and sugar for the rest of the yr. why not!

Post by: one-eyed on July 21, 2007, 02:33:58 PM
That's the quarter time score. That should be Fort Caruso.

Box Hill all over Coburg but we made the most of our rare chances. Very lucky to be close let alone in front. Heaps of shanked kicks by Coburg  :P. We're playig numbers behind the ball and cutting off Box Hill's forays forward.

Gus is best for Coburg. Our only presenting forward target as well as doing the ruck.
JON got a fair bit of the ball and kicked a nice running goal from 45m but Dowler is easily beating him 1-on-1.

Coburg were on top that quarter but couldn't turn it into goals. Struggling to get marks deep inside 50. We're getting marks more on the 50 and with the heavy muddy ball the ball is dropping short and being rushed through for points. Our goals came from running inside 50 and shooting from 40m.

RFC players;
Krak - sparked us that quarter in the middle.

Gus - has done well in the ruck and up forward. Renouf held him better that quarter according to the commentators.

Cass - Been good as well. Apart from one mistake has been clean with the heavy ball.

Hughes - quiet but has been against 2 opponents mostly.

Peterson - for his first game he's done a couple of nice things. I've heard his name about 4-5 times.

Meyer - still off the ground injured. Had to be escorted by a trainer(s).

JON - After getting about 6 or so touches in the first quarter I didn't hear much of him that quarter as the ball was mostly in Coburg's forward line. Silvester was on Dowler that quarter.

Paddy - sweeper role picking off Box Hill with some good marks in defence. In the first quarter made a couple of poor kicks.

Moore, Harts - only heard their names a couple of times in play.

Tambo, Connors - quiet also.

Is Matty White playing?

i have been listening to the game on the radio.

for mine krak is bog, been real good all day and now that 2 weeks in a row he is bog.
paddy deserves votes for his game and so does casserley, and from, listening, connors has had a good game also, so has jon and meyer has done real good work also,  cleve has worked hard at chf . peterson been really good alos and i reckon should come str8 into the team.  tambling wasnt quiet but wasnt dominant eitehr, dont think the mud holes suit his game although he did win enough contested footy.

harts was quiet all day and 2 quick cameo goals mean nothing and white has done nothing to brag about. these 2 must be delisted and have nothing to offer

was neville playing? usually he is a ball magnet but  have not heard him at all.

terry must start really swinging the axe and tyrying these kids at top level for teh rest of the season. i say next week, promote paddy, krak, connors, casserley jon, meyer and petersons.

also gus has been pretty good too so add him into the final rounds so we can truly see them at top level , not just for 1 week but for the remainder of teh yr.

its time we did a kangaroos (2006)

send off sugar to get his ops and hand fix lol, send off tuck, raines , tiv hyde etc and let them make way for the kids

Agree X, Krak would be B.O.G. in the midfield.
Gus was terrific.
The commentators said JON and Casserly were good too.
Paddy, Connors came good in the second half.
Tambo and Harts had better last quarters.
Peterson sounded as he was involved in the game for his debut. From the commentary his second efforts were good.
Didn't hear much of Moore or White.

Meyer didn't come back on the ground after going off injured.

I heard the game on radio, im pretty pleased with young Gus ... seems to be coming along well at Coburg. Casserley should come into the senior team now. Hes getting more of it at coburg and hes using it well 2. Hughes seems to be learning that life isnt so easy in the mudheaps...and hes working at his game, JON we have to wait after he does a proper preseason. Petersen should come in for a game at some stage as well- seems to know how to go about it. Conners seems intent on doing the superstar stuff, id prefer he just try and string some games together.

yep, next couple of weeks should be given to the kids, giving them an opportunity to show their wares.

Connors, Casserly, Hughes, Riewoldt, McGuane, Goose, Peterson should all be given a run in the seniors.

Chance for Krak to come back in as well, but want to see him back it up a few more times

Chance for Krak to come back in as well, but want to see him back it up a few more times

hey bluey

krak played a gr8 first half v the bombers, then doen his ankle. since then he has been back from injury and played 2 weeks at coburg, both weeks no bog, i dont think he needs to back anythg up, he deserves to come back in

iirc, tiv was dropped 4 a week, went to the burgers, did sweet fa, didnt back up anything and after a pathetic game for coburg he was then selected in the tigers team. why are there different rules for different players ??? no wonder why our team is a rabble, because we are not a team, just a bunch of individuals and thats terrys fault.

its time tiv tuck hyde raines sugar were all dropped and told u dont get back in unless u have 2 or 3 bogs for coburg, not just a 1 week rest

these kids , paddy and krak all deserve games , not the duds we currently have playing

but then again, we are tanking arent we

Tivs kicked 4 goals in a half for Coburg ressies  ;). I was surprised Krak wasn't play tomorrow at the 'G.

The most positive news from today was Gus and Cass' games. Hopefully they get a chance to make their debut before the year's out.

Moore's forward opponent mustn't have got a touch as Kel was only mentioned a couple of time in the call.

thats right, and in that game iirc, krak had about 40 touches and was bog

must be a good player to kick 4 goals in a vfl reserves team lol, obv terry and his tigers dont have very high standards to get selected lol

Tivs' problem over the years is once he gets the footy which he usual does around the 20 times a game mark he turns it over by foot at crucial times. Krak's problem at AFL level is getting enough of the footy consistently in the first place. A player who can't get his hands on the pill is useless to a coach. Too bad for us Krak doesn't have the engine to reproduce his Coburg output in the midfield when playing for Richmond.

Tigers issue warning to contenders

COBURG sent a message to all finals contenders at Coburg City Oval yesterday, and that was, "watch out!" What began as a goal-for-goal mud wrestle, ended in a 38-point runaway victory to the Tigers, who beat Box Hill 15.11 (101) to 10.3 (63).

Played in a veritable gluepot, the ball was heavy and slippery and players struggled to keep their feet and hold their marks.

Going into the game, the Tigers were without regulars Jack Riewoldt (promoted), Kent Kingsley (injured) and on-ballers Luke McGuane (promoted) and Alistair Neville (injured) and, in the second quarter, they also lost Danny Meyer for the match with a corked thigh.

Sensing an opportunity presented by these absences, Box Hill produced a ferocious first quarter, causing a number of Coburg turnovers. Beau Dowler was excellent up forward, providing a strong marking option and kicking two goals for the half. Dowler caused a considerable problem for the Tiger defence and the 20-year-old looks a bright prospect for Hawthorn.

With scores locked at 37 apiece at half-time, Patrick Bowden proved the difference in the third quarter, kicking the first two goals in the first two minutes.

While Dowler managed his third goal in response, 200 centimetre rookie Angus Graham brought down Box Hill skipper Kristan Height with a wonderful tackle and spotted up Bowden once again. Bowden repaid the big man's hard work with his third goal for the term and opened up a three-goal lead.

The fourth quarter saw Coburg's quality come to the fore: Brent Hartigan kicked two goals, Cleve Hughes was sensational at centre half-forward, Jarrad Oakley-Nicholls did as he pleased through the midfield and Andrew Krakouer completed his second best-on-ground performance in two weeks with 38 possessions.

Coach Andy Collins was elated with the win. The Tigers sit second on the ladder.

Krakouer ignites Tigers in mud
22 July 2007   Sunday Herald Sun

EMBATTLED Richmond coach Terry Wallace has something to cheer about with the sparkling form of list players Andrew Krakouer, Patrick Bowden, Richard Tambling and Cleve Hughes for the Coburg Tigers in yesterday's VFL match against the Box Hill Hawks.

Krakouer, 24, who hasn't cemented a regular spot at Richmond in seven seasons, ploughed through the quagmire at the Coburg City Oval to finish with 38 disposals (23 kicks, 15 handballs).

He was the playmaker in Coburg's 38-point victory.

Bowden, who has missed most of the season with a hip injury, had 26 disposals, took 10 marks and booted four goals in Coburg's 15.11 (101) to 10.3 (63) victory.

Coburg coach Andy Collins used Bowden in defence early before moving him forward where he was picked up by Hawk defender Danny Jacobs.

"Patrick has missed a lot of footy and is getting better and better," Collins said.

"He could force his way into the Richmond side in the next few weeks."

Tambling, working through the midfield and across the half-forward line, had 22 touches.

Collins praised Hughes who took 10 marks at centre half-forward.

"I thought Cleve was terrific and his marking was very strong," he said.

Richmond and former Geelong forward Kent Kingsley didn't line up because of a quad injury.

Hawthorn captain Richie Vandenberg had 24 possessions in the midfield for Box Hill as he continues to press for a return to AFL football after a serious shoulder injury.

Box Hill coach Damien Christensen said: "Richie gave us grunt in the middle, particularly in the first half."

Jacobs took 12 marks and had 19 disposals, but had his hands full when Bowden moved forward.

Hawthorn youngsters Josh Kennedy and Travis Tuck impressed and Beau Dowler kicked three goals.

"We were level at half-time, but missed a couple of crucial shots early in the third quarter," Christensen said.

"We missed targets and there was a lack of experience."

Hawthorn defender Zac Dawson was reported in the third quarter for an incident involving Coburg's Joe Gazzo.

Christensen was upset by the surface of the ground.

"It was in shocking condition, it was a real mud heap," he said.

this is why we need krak on our list, he is just 24. we trade or delist him now we will pay the price.
if krak gets enough game time, game after game, in the midfield ,his fitness will improve. he is the smartest footballer along with brown we have.
let him go we will be punished. terry wallace has to just get over his gripe with krak and give him some confidence and a real go, we all know terry had it in for rodan, and he does for krak, lets hope terry does not make the same mistake twice.

u hear miller say in the paper we need more mids, well why the f did they get rid of rodan for. krak is important to our team, and we betetr sign him up again.

some say he does not get the ball enough . well he does not get equal midfield game time and it has nothing to do with his fitness, terry has it in 4 him, prob cos he is so close to spud.

now what would u rather see, krak getting 15 kicks and knowing all 15 will hit a target lace out

or tuck and tiv getting 20 kicks each, where only 10 or 12 kicks will hit a  target , and the rest are turned over or go to a spot that disadvantages our team

do ur math!

Another great win by the Burgers with out their main play maker Al Neville.

It was a very impressive result in the end after a very tight first half.

The 4 indigenous boys playing together a highlight.

Full credit to Tambling for how he played - was very good. Got an entire game in the mid-field. Could have gone back and sulked but didn't - was very impressive.

Krak = BOG for mine (although the coaches gave Cleve BOG award) - deserves a game in the AFL next week. Played the entire game in the mid-field as well and excelled. It's a pity that he doesn't have the fitness levels to play there for long periods in AFL games..

any questions fire away

 :thumbsup

Just sussing a few things and by the look of it we could be playing Geelong in Geelong, in the first week of the finals.

Arghhh the brudders  :thumbsup

Yes Moi I think he will play b4 the end of the season. Incredible leap - jumped for a couple of ruck contests  :gobdrop is all I can say/do ;D

Interesting thing yesterday was that by the end of the day his lack of fitness showed - moved very slowly in the last 10 minutes (maybe that was the excess mud he was carrying ;D) - there is a gap between VFL seniors and ressies

that's a bit generous there X  ;)  :lol.

But with Krak, he is def a footballer not an athlete and that is his downfall.

I am willing to give him another year on a performance based contract, but if he doesn't do anything next year it is bye bye from me

He could only be played in 10-min bursts off the bench if you wanted to play Krak in the midfield at AFL level.

give krak a real crack in the middel to gain his fitness, u dont need speed, look at greg williams

and btw, the coburg tigers run the ball more fluent and faster than the tigers and krak gets enough of the ball there, why , because collins gives him the chance

Krak has had 3 outstanding weeks at Coburg.

Does he deserve another chance? Yep absolutely based on his form

However, I don't think he could play an enitre game in the middle field, perhaps 10-15 minutes a quarter and that has been the problem for his enitre career. Personally I'd take that at this stage. He clearly has the smarts and we need more footy smarts, lots more footy smarts

Match Report Vs. Box Hill
coburgtigers.com.au

The Tigers made it four wins in a row on Saturday against a strong Box Hill side at ABD Group Stadium. Although the scores were level at half time Coburg kicked 10 goals to 4 after the main break to run out comfortable 38 point winners.

On what was a warm winter’s day, unfortunately the centre square was still a quagmire, as the grounds heavy scheduling hasn’t allowed for the grass to regrow. That aside the ground was in good condition and allowed for a skillful fast paced game. It was great to see a lot of Coburgs sponsors attending the match.

Andrew Krakouer’s form in the VFL has been exceptional, and it continued again on Saturday. Krakouer collected 38 disposals playing in the midfield, including 23 kicks and was named best on ground. Other Richmond listed players Richard Tambling and Cleve Hughes also played solid games; Tambling collected 22 possessions across the half forward line, while Hughes pulled down 10 marks at Centre Half Forward.

With Jack Riewoldt selected for Richmond and Kent Kingsley unavailable because of a quad injury it left a hole in the Coburg side. However that was successfully filled by Patrick Bowden. Bowden has struggled through the season with a hip injury, but showed no signs of that on Saturday. He started down back in the first quarter before moving forward to take 10 marks and lead the goal kicking with 4 majors. Brent Hartigan and ruckman Angus Graham, also moved forward kicking 2 goals for the Burgers.

Fortunato Caruso was back in the seniors this week after a couple of excellent games in the reserves. Caruso’s pace and ability to get the ball at ground level was superb and he finished with 2 goals and was named in the best. Travis Ronaldson and Paul Shelton continued their great seasons and were also amongst Coburgs better players.

Coburg play the Casey Scorpions next week at Casey Fields on Sunday 29th July.

But he'll play 55% of the game on the ground in the FP.  :sleep

 :shh  I hit a button?!

I dont think he should play forward pocket, he's proven to be no good at that position over 6 years.  I think he should play 65% of the game and all in the midfield, give him a real shot.

But Terry wont do that.

No news all I know is on the day I heard the doc say it was a likely a minor medial (low grade I think they call it) strain. He certainly was wlaking OK after the game
