Title: Will we win another game before the end of the season?
Post by: one-eyed on July 18, 2007, 03:55:10 AM
Which game(s), if any, do you think we can win?

WARNING Richmond fans: It could be about to get a whole lot worse.

Tigers coach Terry Wallace quietly reminded everybody on Sunday night that the club had a "tough" run home.

What Wallace didn't mention was it is clearly the worst in the competition.

Sitting 16th and pondering the threat of Carlton taking the No. 1 draft pick is painful enough. Then along comes a cruel draw to cap off a nightmare season at Punt Rd.

Now they have played every side once, the Tigers may have hoped for some respite in the list of seven teams they meet again.

But cop this not-so-magnificent seven:

Port Adelaide (MCG), Sydney (SCG), Geelong (Skilled Stadium), Collingwood (MCG), West Coast (Subiaco), Essendon (MCG) and St Kilda (MCG).

Every game is against a finals contender currently ranked 1st to 11th.

Every other team gets at least one more crack at a team in the bottom five.

Using a formula to judge the run home of all the teams, Champion Data has the Tigers clearly worse off for degree of difficulty

Richmond doesn't have to worry about such matters. But the draw is going to make it very difficult for the Tigers to finish in the "vibrant" manner Wallace is demanding.

The bookies aren't silly. It is no coincidence the Tigers are as short at $1.11 to win the wooden spoon even though they are just six points behind 15th-placed Melbourne.

Essendon have got a tough run before they meet us, hopefully they are totally demoralised by then, and we could get ourselves another win!

Win this week in the upset of the year ;)
I agree Jack :thumbsup

If it wasn't Hird's and possibly Sheeds' farewell Melbourne game then I reckon we'd be a chance against the Dons too. The Pies would be the only other one. We've usually matched up well on them. The other 4 matches - no chance.

Round 16 Port Yes or I am hoping to. Richo deserves it. Us as a club as a whole can show we have more spirit and passion than other clubs in loftier positions by just gritting our teeth and doing it for the lovable oaf. It should be a duty of every tiger fan to get out to the G and cheer him on . He trains harder runs harder than anyone on the list and his passion love desire for the RFC is unparraelled. :pray

Round 17 Sydney no
Round 18 Geelong no way we won there last year. Wins at SS are as rare as hens teeth.
Round 19 WCoast no
Round 20 Skunks Scum  We should treat it as our Grand Final. We all know what happens to Pies in a Grannies. Look Pies lost to Bombers rd 19 last yr and we also tend to have the wood over them . Only lost twice to them in the one season in  2003 and  before that was 1989. Look we match up well Friday night home game I think we can. It would be great marketing tool in preparation for next year after such a bleak season.

Round 21 Essendon.  No way Dons don't make finals they play WCoast in rd 22 in Perth Hirdy will want to say good bye to the fans at the G. Add Sheeds touch with Dons Tigs Rivalry and we have the Dons romping in much in the same way the Saints murdered us at the Dome in 03 in Nathan Burkes last game.

Round 22 St Kilda. No, haven't beaten them since Easter Monday 2003. Won't happen in rd 22 .

Can only see us now a chance against the Pies. At least get something out of 2007 by stuffing them up.
