Title: Tanking
Post by: Rodgerramjet on August 28, 2007, 07:33:55 AM
I got this qoute out of an article on the AFL website.

"Melbourne now have 11 players definitely unavailable and Carlton confirmed at least 10 will miss the game"

If this isn't the orchestration of the bigest tank by two sides in history then I'll go he.

Should be interesting to watch.

the system sucks and the afl are fos when they say they believe teams dont tank
imo, there should be a lottery system for teh draft. 2 groups, top 8 and bottom 8.

so the bottom 8 teams get picked out of a hat 1st, the top8 teams get picked from a hat second

that will stop tanking fullstop

end of story, no priority picks, and this should be done as of immediately

should be outlawed teams even thinking about tanking should have there AFL licence revoked
if teams are tanking then punters would have a case for a class action against the AFL & clubs involved
betting facilities are taking money on these games its illegal to screw a punter someone should remind the afl & clubs of there licencing policy

Priority picks the right system: Demetriou

AAP

AFL boss Andrew Demetriou has rejected suggestions Carlton will deliberately go out to lose their match against Melbourne this weekend and backed the controversial priority pick system.

"If people genuinely believe a priority pick is going to be the panacea for a football club, they are delusional," Demetriou told Melbourne radio station SEN.

"Our belief is the system's the right system. We don't subscribe to the theory teams deliberately go out to lose or manipulate results."

Demetriou said consistently losing games had other negative spin-offs, including the prospect of coaching staff and players losing their jobs, supporter angst and financial implications from unhappy sponsors or lessened television appeal.
