Watched some of the Wallabies game last night (stick gold and green on in a major sporting world cup and I have a habit of watching it). Always fun to see Aussies beating other countries at "their" sport ;D.
-
Aussies have failed in their quest for the Rugby World Cup after a 10-12 loss to England in the Quarter Final stage of the tournament. Although we were the only team to score a try Australian nemesis from 2003 Johnny Wilkinson was on target with his boot. W e lead 10-6 at half time but could not go on with it in the second half.

Mortlock had a chance to put the Wallabies in front with 2 minutes to go but he just missed the penalty goal. It looked like the Wallabies were complacent because England came into the game struggling and they just expected the win to take care of itself.

At least the Kiwis got knocked out as well. The whole of New Zealand is in mourning lol.
-
Not sure if anyone else here follows the Wallabies during the Rugby World Cups but they now face the All Blacks in the semi-finals this Sunday.
NZ have a history of going into World Cups as overwhelming favourites but then choke when it counts :yep. The Wallabies were very lucky to beat South Africa yesterday as they were smashed at the stoppages (rucks, line-outs) and our best rugby player Quade Cooper had a shocker. However, all the pressure and expectation will be on the All Blacks on their home turf in front of their fans and media where Rugby is their religion and main national sport. There's some similarities with the 1991 World Cup where the Wallabies just got over Ireland in a QF when they could have so easily lost before upseting NZ against the odds in the semi-final (Australia went on to win the WC that year). The Kiwis will go into national mourning if history repeats ;D.
-
Im tipping NZ to beat us. There going to be hungry for revenge after we beat them in the tri nations series
-
Can tell you Australia can play a lot better, but New Zealand won't be letting us get away as easily as South Africa did. Sonny Bill and Dan Carter will kill Cooper. All Blacks should win.
-
Wallabies will get mauled. Playing at Eden Park where they haven't won in 25 years.
All Blacks may have been semi final bridesmaids in previous tournaments but in N.Z they will be tough to beat and they will repeat their 1987 World Cup triumph again this year.
Repeat of the 1987 final on the cards. Result going the same way.
New Zealand v France.
-
Great effort to get this far by the Aussies, would be so lol if Wales knocked the Kiwis off in the Final.
Don't laugh they are a shot.
-
Just heard on Sunrise, every team to beat reining champs (this year being the Boks) has gone on to win the world cup.

Hogwash. Aussies lost to England in the quarters in 1995 when they were the reigning champs.
Invictus obviously was a fictional story. :-\

maybe they count it because they beat us in the pool match?
-
No doubt NZ will be favourites and should win but I'm hoping a miracle does happen. The Wallabies couldn't have played any worse offensively against the Boks and in 1991 the Wallabies played out of their skin in the semi-final to knockout the Kiwis. Let's just hope and pray lightning strikes twice :pray as it would be hilarious knocking them out of the World Cup and also breaking the Eden Park hoodoo when it actually counts ;D.
-
If your'e in it you give yourself a shot, here's hoping!

Ok no probs, Corasauras forgot about that. :thumbsup \
My line of thought was beating the reigning champs in the knockout phase of the tournament.

Lucky to be just 8 points down at HT. Quade Cooper might as well be wearing an All Blacks guernsey :help.
-
Cooper is playing like Daniel Jackson
-
Yes, weak as pee by us! Error riddled game full of brain fades and mistakes! Need to get out crap together this half ::)
-
Well, I guess it's 'go the French' :cheers
-
Biggest joke
-
LMFAO @ the second half..... ::) ::)
-
The Wallabies were smashed at the stoppages, had no rucks and kept turning possession over. As some Tiger wag on twitter said it was like watching us . The Kiwis will now slaughter the French in the final.
-
Cant believe they didnt take cooper off when he clearly proved he wasnt up to it:@
-
He wasn't too bad in the second half but that kick out on the full from the start and the errors he made in the first 10-15 minutes were killers. In the end though the Kiwis were too good and the Aussies couldn't cope under the NZ pressure and made basic costly mistakes.
-
No surprise in the result
Only real surprise was former Wallabies players spruiking we were a chance ;D
-
Probably not too many Rugby Union followers here but the All-Blacks proved again overnight they are just too scarily good. The Wallabies were gutsy to fight back within 4 points from 18 points down (helped by the 10 minute NZ sin-bin) but the All-Blacks had all the answers when it counted :(. Dan Carter's field goal-kicking also makes a mockery of the "tired-legs" excuse AFL players use for missing getable set-shot goals. Maybe we should bring back the place-kick and dropkick for Aussie Rules goalkicking ;D.
-
Carter couldn't bloody miss. You could tell from the first 10 minutes (if you didn't already know) that NZ were obviously the better team. Don't think they lost a line out yet we'd be lucky to say we won half. Wallabies did put in a valiant effort especially after losing two quality players to injury early on, not that they would of got us over the line
