Looks like Eade may have a job after all.
Gee if we don't land Wallace and loose Eade to the Dogs well.
Things are panning out as I predicted weeks ago, which was:
Eade to dogs
Wallace to Richmond
Craig to the Crows.
Lets hope so.

End of the Rohde
04 August 2004 Herald Sun
THE Western Bulldogs are today expected to announce that coach Peter Rohde will stand down at the end of the season.
The Bulldogs have called a press conference for 4.30pm (AEST) today at Whitten Oval.
Rohde, 39, will become the fourth coach to lose his job during this season, following Adelaide's Gary Ayres, Richmond's Danny Frawley and Hawthorn's Peter Schwab.
The Crows, Tigers and Hawks are all looking for replacements for next season.
Rohde won his first game as coach - in round 22 of 2002 - but has endured a difficult past two seasons.
The Dogs won just three games in 2003 and finished last and this season have won just four games and are 14th.
From 41 games coached, Rohde has won eight and lost 33.

Well I don't think we have to worry about the Doggies being interested in Wallace. :lol
I would doubt that the Dogs could afford Eade.
I think a rookie is more likely or Ayres. Ayres is a cheaper option than Eade

Unbeleivable news......Im a little stunned....
Now all of a sudden things have opened up more and well.....hopefully our announcement soon will get us out of this yuck.

Just goes to show as well that you can't rely on the data given by David Parkin as well. He was emphatic last night on Talking footy that Smorgon would never sack Rhode. How wrong he seems to have been.

I don't think it will a "sacking" per se - he will step down a bit like the way we did it with Frawley - he wasn't sacked - he quit :shh

That may well be true techniquely but it is a sacking politely nonetheless ;D

Another victim of the "President is right behind you" statement. Although Rohde was on seriously shakey ground, the timing of this decision sounds more like a political one with Simon Beasley and Co breathing down Smorgon's neck in the last week.
The good news is this might spur the doggies in the last 4 weeks to win 2 games and miss out of a priority pick :thumbsup

ANd don't forget the other President cliche regarding coaches - he has a contract and we are going to honour it ;D

We did :o. Don't know how we got through the year but we did (well almost) :P

Not sure where the doggies are going to find the money to pay out Rohde as well as hire an experienced coach. Apparently the assistant coaches are gone also.

Leon Cameron - come on down - skills coach position at the RFC beckons :thumbsup

If Beasley and others had anything to do with the decision, maybe they should get their wallets out.

Leon Cameron = Nice suggestion :bow

Some people have lots of good things to say about Mick McGuane - would come cheap too for the Doggies.
-
Yeah, McGuane's not doing to bad :thumbsup

I actually feel sorry for Rohde, but your point is the first thing I thought of MT.
The cynic in me was asking how they can get money from the competitive balance fund to operate and then waste a heap.
I doubt they could afford Eade if they're paying out Rohde as well, so I'd expect someone like Brian Royal to get the job.
-
I feel a bit sorry for Rohde too FF. The doggies have lost a number of games they had a good chance of winning this year due solely to poor goalkicking. Not saying they would have made the finals but you can't blame the coach for his players having the yips in front of the big sticks. Remember they could have smashed us in the third quarter when we played them but they kicked six straight behinds before Richo took over to tear the game apart with his bag of 10.

Still pretty confident Eade will get the gig.
