Title: 4 goal umpires?
Post by: mightytiges on May 13, 2004, 03:08:04 PM
I don't ever remember there being a goal-umpiring problem in the past although talking footy did show a Richmond pre-season game trialling 4 goal umpires back in the mid-70's. Why are now goal umpires getting caught out of position? One goal given at the Gabba earlier in the year missed by a clear metre  :o .

I have heard the the bulk of "training" involved for goal umpiring is watching tapes.

I would suggest they should go out to all the Clubs and practice watching the ball while teams practice the goal kicking.

Everyone else in footy is trainins to hone their skills goal umpires shouldn't be any different

this goal umpire business is getting out of hand, i honestly believe all this more goal umpire business started the day Rocca's kick in the GF against the lions (2002) was classified as a point, ask any collingwood fan! LOL

Bloody eddie has too much say!!

 ;D

could you imagine if collingwood lost to the saints this weekend by a point because a ball went out on the full instead and they were given a point? atleast the lions took it on the chin and moved on.
