i haven't seen much junior talent this year due to VCE commitments so will only post a top 30 phantom
-
1. Carlton – Matt Kreuzer (ruckman)
Pros – mobile and skilful for a guy at 200cm
- 2nd and 3rd efforts are inspirational
- never stops running
- been very consistent at junior level
Cons - average rucking skills may be exposed
- is a bit of a tweener so where does he play?
2. Richmond – Trent Cotchin
Pros – brilliant football brain, appears a step in front of the play
- beautiful kicking off both feet
- team-orientated and looks to bring team-mates into the game
- genuine match-winner
Cons – needs to build up his tank to move permanently into the midfield
- didn’t perform as expected at the U18 champs
3. West Coast – Chris Masten
Pros - genuine ball winner, fantastic knack of finding the ball in congestion
- never stops running
- brings team-mates into the game
- creative with his disposal, especially by hand
- natural leader
Cons - kicking lacks depth
- nursed through OP this year? so will have to be handled carefully
4. Melbourne – Cale Morton
Pros - prototypical footballer, fantastic combo of height (191cm) and skills
- Good all-round athlete
- shone at the U18 champs
- routinely makes good decisions
Cons - doesn’t win his own ball which could be a problem at AFL
- where does he play?
5. Bulldogs – David Gourdis
Pros - workhorse
- superb athlete for his size (possibly the 2nd coming of the G-train)
- good converter
- always tries to bring team-mates into the game
Cons – could have been taken last year, is there something we don’t know?
- lacks agility
6. Essendon – David Meyers
Pros - Fantastic combo of height (190cm) and skills
- Extremely athletic, real dasher
- natural leader
- smart footballer who has been known by recruiters for a while
Cons - lack of versatility, projects as a defensive flanker only for me
- good in all areas but not brilliant in any one
7. Freo – Rhys Palmer
Pros - daring and attacking player who runs the line
- is a goal kicking mid
- big-stage performer
- strongly built already so could play right away
Cons - very one sided, right foot is shizenhouse
- lacks a defensive side
- one-year wonder?
8. Brisbane – Brad Ebert
Pros - Good all-round footballer
- natural leader
- hard at the ball
- consistent performer
Cons - not spectacular at any one thing
- disappointing at the champs
9. St Kilda – Alex Rance
Pros - looks like a genuine stuff
- brilliant athlete and strong bodied
- good skills which makes him dangerous on the rebound
Cons - The WA mid was sublime so their defence had less to do, which begs the question how good is Rance really
10. Adelaide – Ben McEvoy
Pros – elite skills for a ruckman
- very mobile
- versatile, can play in the ruck and up forward
Cons - like Kreuzer is a bit of a tweener so will he be able to make it full time as an AFL ruck
-
11. Sydney – Scott Selwood
Pros - Tough hard at it midfielder/half back flanker
- Always looks to get the ball moving forward
- fantastic pedigree
- blue chip prospect
Cons - not the most creative player, very 1 dimensional in his approach
- has not really done much in his junior career
12. Hawthorn – Steven Gaertner
Pros - stuff athlete for his size
- match winner at best
- awesome potential
Cons - kicking is terrible
- athlete playing football not the other way around
- polar end to selwood in that Gaertner is a massive risk
13. West Coast – Lachie Henderson
Pros - love his combo of aggressive play and athleticism
- versatile player
- pre leg injury was a superb kick
Cons - yet to recover from his leg injury and kicking has lost depth
- missed a lot of footy over past 2 years
- form has been terrible this year
14. Melbourne - Patrick Veszpremi
Pros - hardness at the ball
- aggressive and direct nature of his game
- good long kick
- won AA spot playing against last years super draft crop
Cons – missed a fair bit of footy this year
- a bit one dimensional
15. Kangaroos – Tom Collier
Pros - extremely athletic KPP
- very versatile
- good kicking skills
- very mobile
- daring and attacking player
Cons - where does he play? played mostly at CHB but don’t think he can do that at AFL level
- could have gone last year, what’s wrong?
16. Port Adelaide – Jack Grimes
Pros - workhorse who will always find a way to contribute
- natural leader
- very team-orientated
Cons - kicking is a real worry
- is a stick figure, can he get the body to play his style of footy
17. Geelong – Callan Ward
Pros - classy decision maker
- versatile, has shown the ability to play most roles
- dual-footed
Cons - no real standout qualities
- inconsistent
18. Richmond – Patrick Dangerfield
Pros - elite speed
- hard at it
- genuinely influences games
- good size for modern day footballer
Cons - kicking needs sharpening
- seems to always take the first option rather than assessing his options
19. Bulldogs – Tayte Pears
Pros – good closing speed and athleticism overall
- skills are surprisingly good for a big man
- good on the rebound
Cons - not a natural defender in the sense that he required a lot of coaching from his fellow defenders
- shapes as a 3rd tall defender IMO rather than legit key defender
- like Rance, did the dominant WA mid make him look better than he is?
20. West Coast – Jarrad Grand
Pros - extremely athletic 190cm frame
- skills (when switched on) are superb
- match winner
- huge upside
Cons - very inconsistent, even within a match
- lazy footballer
- big risk
-
21. Melbourne – Cyril Rioli
Pros - fantastic pedigree
- explosive pace and very agile
- X-factor and can change the course of a match in a few minutes
Cons - missed a lot of football this year
- hard to measure how good he is since he played in div 2 and in the APS
- low possession getter so needs to improve kicking to make the most of his possessions
22. West Coast – Brendan Whitecross
Pros - hard working
- good allround athlete shown at DC
- versatile
Cons - div 2 player, how does he compare to div 1?
- doesn't seem as quick on field as his DC results suggest
23. Essendon – Thomas Bellchambers
Pros - enthusiastic ruckman who will work hard
- physical approach to game
Cons - skills are not great
- doesn’t work hard enough to get possessions around the ground
- seems to have lost a lot of mobility
24. Freo – Patrick McGinnity
Pros - very accountable tagger
- gets enough of the ball to hurt the opposition going the other way
- played very well in the champs
- very consistent
Cons - not a great deal of upside
- limited in terms of his versatility
25. Brisbane – Marlon Motlop
Pros - skills are very good
- has a sharp footy brain
- matchwinner
Cons - lazy footballer, doesn’t work any where near hard enough on the field
- extremely inconsistent
- hasn’t done much this year
26. Sydney – Dawson Simpson
Pros - man mountain of a ruckman
- skills are reasonable
- a lot of upside
Cons - poor work-rate
- on the soft side
- underdeveloped football wise
27. Adelaide – Tony Notte
Pros - natural tall forward
- athletic
- runs to the right places
Cons - skinny as a rake and will need plenty of time before he is ready
- shapes only as 3rd tall forward AT BEST
28. Port Adelaide – Levi Greenwood
Pros - fearless attack on the ball
- attacking mindset
- long kick
Cons - accuracy of kicking is a real problem
- one dimensional decision making
- manchild, did it give him an advantage at the champs?
29. Hawthorn – Addam Maric
Pros - skilful
- very accurate shot at goal, 85% accuracy IIRC
- good decision maker
Cons - can be selfish
- doesn’t work hard enough
- lacks versatility
30. Adelaide – Steven Browne
Pros - accountable in defence
- good enough skills to make the most of his limited possessions
- team-orientated
Cons - looks like a bp only
- might struggle on the really fast small forwards

Great stuff Bluey :cheers. Overall a pretty accurate summary of each draftee's strengths and weaknesses :clapping.
Dangerfield would be a good pick up at 18 but it'll be interesting to see if we will go for two mids with our first two picks or go for a tall defender like Pears at 18 if he's still around. I think at 191.5cm and 90kg he could still end up a FB as he has the size and is bottom age.
The Bullies are pretty keen on Grant apparently so some think he could go as early as 5.
Where would you have Arrowsmith, Otten and Farmer bluey and who do you think we could pick up at 51?

arrowsmith and otten will go anywhere after 30 IMO, where they go will depend on club needs
farmer is a personal fav, could push top 30 but most likely will be snapped up between 30 and 50 so we would miss out on him
