Dunno about Paradise City. Have heard that the opening riff from Sweet Child of Mine was how Slash's would practise his scales. What about Bon Jovi's "Wanted Dead or Alive"?

The riffs immediately before the last verse of Stairway to Heaven are mythical.

:yep :thumbsup
The end solo to Comfortably Numb ain't bad either.
As far as intros, the Stones' Start me up.

Jumping Jack Flash and You can't always get what you want from the Stones are great also.

AS far as great riffs go, you can't go past Joe Satriani's "Circles" on Surfing with the Alien. About 1 minute after some amazingly melodic acoustic he lets fly like a man possessed.
Also Hendrix's "Little Wing" is poetry in motion. Stevie Ray Vaughan also did a great cover of this. Not a power tune by any means but a technically brilliant piece of guitar work. :thumbsup
