No sign of any of the PSD/rookie trainees today. So I still haven't seen Gourdis.
very interesting indeed ;):shh :shh
-
Hmmm, this from BF on the Freo board posted today...
Collard played a possibles v probables with the Tigers today at Vic Park and kicked 6 goals in 40mins prompting him to be removed before he kicked 10 maybe.Heaps of other kids around, Pfeiffer did well too.
Miller/Wallace and cronies were overheard to be to super impressed with him, looks like he will go to the Tigers next Week as No 1 Pre-season pick and perhaps just another Freo **** **

Well, it seems as though Blaisee knows something.
Spill it Blaisee!

Collard came from Freo didn't he? If Bee Dee said it on the Freo board I would suspect he's having a bit of a stir. Good to hear from blaisee that he performed well. The PSD will be interesting.
-
;D ;D Just had a thought, if they don't pick Gourdis PRE will go into meltdown. :lol

Yep spill the beans blaisee.
Training today was at Punt Rd btw.

sorry guys,
very sensitive situation but what I will say is this
Practice match was played by some contenders for our selections in PSD and RD
Senior players also played in the match
It was a lock out session and more than 1 opposition scout was escorted out :thumbsup
Some youngsters enhanced their reputations and some did themselves no favours :-X
What I will say is that Kelvin Moore was breathtakingly good ;)
Has filled out and looks a genuine AFL player.
Blaisee out.
I will give more details after the draft. We need to protect our interests :shh

Kelvin Moore and good in the one sentence, now thats a worry

If he comes on then thats a big big bonus for the club. One more kpp that not many have sort of included in their thinking going forward. Seems to have filled out to looking at some of the pictures.
Also is it true that Craig Cameron was also asked to leave?

I heard it was a poo game :help

Thanks for the reports MT & blaisee.

Ditto. Cheers for the info and confirmation blaisee.
What a joke about us maybe being fined for this. Heaven forbid as a footy club we test potential draftees, who we have AFL approval to train with us, by playing some footy ::).

Foley and Thursfield were picked up in the rookie draft. Would class both of them as hidden gems Jack.

notice to all internet forum users :
With school holidays about to kick in there will be an influx of juvenile registrations. It is important to understand that these new members are extremely intelligent and know everything about everything. There posting has no grey, just black or white and whatever their opinion is, it always correct!
have a good school holidays little jackie :whistle

The boots looks like Newy's not Sarge's so that's why I think it's Newy.
Well spotted, I didn't think the face looked like Newman, but with the facial hair, shorts & boots, it has to be him. He doesn't look anywhere near that big in other photos though.

True Jack but all 16 clubs overlooked both of them in the National draft. They weren't literally hidden but they later proved to be gems. We also chose Thursty over the more highly rated junior defender Kirkby which surprised a few supporters at the time but proved to be the right decision.

Cheers infamy. Yep the little troll bee dee has a habit of talking crap :yep. Last year he blamed Vic Park for Simmo breaking his ankle when Simmo actually broke it at Gosch's Paddock.

Hey Blaisee, what part of the english language dont you understand.
I didnt say they werent gems, I said that any club had the opportunity to pick them up. Can tell you melbourne considered picking up thursty as a rookie.
For whats its worth, I like and rate both players.
As for my opinion. I am entitled to it and I would hate to remind you we did would the wooden spoon and a favorites to win it again in 2008.
FACT! not rubbish or my opinion , plain facts,so get over it pal.
Hey, ,if we lose early games ,I can just see the vacant seats now in Section N, all the supporters will drop off like they did in the 2nd half in 2007.
-
I thought you said you'd left.
Stay true to your word please.
This thread deserves better.
-
I appreciate the banter but could we please stick to the main theme of this thread as others have mentioned previously. Could Admin please create a thread
and call it "Little Jackie vs the rest of the world" :lol I'm quite happy for this post to also be deleted. This needs to remain a clean thread as it is one of the best here! :thumbsup

I take everything you say with a grain of salt since the comment you made about sheeds not taking the demons job because he was promised the richmond job. Quite simply the biggest load of crap I have ever heard, and the fact that you tried to spin it here very disturbing indeed

Tiger talent yet to be recognised
Warwick Green | December 7, 2007 | The Age
THERE they were at Victoria Park on Wednesday, a host of young Tiger hopefuls training in "simulated match conditions" — not a practice match, mind you, that's not allowed in December. No doubt the striplings were keen to impress ahead of Tuesday's pre-season draft. Not just Richmond observers either, since about half a dozen AFL club recruiting types were watching from the shadows around Vic Park. Or at least they were, until Tiger assistant coach David King pointed out to a couple of them the shortest route to Dights Falls. One man King didn't have to boot out was Craig Cameron, who has been Melbourne's recruiting whiz for the past decade. On Monday, the Tigers had poached Cameron, signing him up on a five-year contract as list and strategy manager at Punt Road. He will slot into new role in the new year. Which is just as well, because when he rocked up for Wednesday's match, ahem, training session, Cameron didn't see a thing. He was knocked back at the gate.

Clever RFC. Nice wording to avoid a AFL fine :thumbsup

Blaisee,
Can you shed any more light on this practice match now?
How many did Collard kick, who were the disappointments etc.
-
Will now confirm the following
The best two youngsters on the day clearly were Collard and Gourdis
Collard was really just a class above the rest of the pack, AFL richmond players included ( except for Moore )
He kicked probly 4-5 goals and was moving around like a rolls royce, class class player, hopefully he keeps his head right because I consider him a way superior player to Leroy Jetta.
Gourdis was swung up forward in the 2nd half and absolutely dominated
He killed his opponent on the lead, absolutely destroyed him, and used the ball well ,and kicked nicely for goal.
He looked a stand out, and I know the club believe that with his natural tools and tremendous attitude he will be developed as KP backman
Silverster also played in the match and did well
The player that dissapointed me was Callinan, was not involved enough IMHO
In Summary you will have to wait 3 years for Gourdis, but I havent seen an athlete like him for a long time.
Collard is a star, hopefully he wants it enough to put in the work, but an absolute star :thumbsup
-
I know the club believe that with his natural tools and tremendous attitude he will be developed as KP backman
does that mean the club recruited him to become a defender, or is that just an option in their mind?

yep, same here, you can question his application but you cannot question his talent. Kicking and decision making both elite. And the rookie draft is a perfect place to gamble on someone like Collard, if he makes it he will make it big and be a star, if he doesn't get his head screwed on right then we haven't lost much
In Summary you will have to wait 3 years for Gourdis, but I havent seen an athlete like him for a long time.
I know, could swear he'd be the second coming of the G-train or Richo
:gotigers

the club would like gourdis to develop into a big bodied KP Backman

for me developing Gourdis as a key defender would be the last resort, we really need him up forward to put pressure on Hughes and Schulz to perform

Thanks for that Blaisee :thumbsup

Blaisee can you tell me which senior players played and also did Tambling play. cheers.
And another thing i want to know is how is Tambling going at the moment.

Blingers was training with the senior players at Punt Rd that day so I'd doubt he would've played in that praccy match.

I don't mind educating players in defence but if a kid has the ability to become a dominant forward in the future then he should be played up forward. Dominant key forwards are like gold. They win you games.

how did players like zomer go?
i would have loved him over silvester

i would have loved him over silvester
zomer moved real well, but, his kicking was shocking, he makes gourdis look like leon cameron in comparison
zomer was considered but overlooked for much much better options

fair enough
i wouldnt of taken him over gourdis or collard but he would of been handy if available around our 2nd/3rd pick
was their no one else that really stood out that could have taken howats spot? did the likes of gazzo or horne get a run? i still would of liked one of those boys to have got a shot over a bloke who is getting his 3rd chance

Pfeiffer rolled his ankle during the simulated match practice with us.

Does anyone know if this year we are having a "match simulation" this week for the potential PSD/rookies?
