What are your expectations for Rainesy this year and what would be a good year for him?
-
run in a straight line would be a start.

Actually think it's an important year for him this year.
I think he was found out a fair bit by the opposition in 2007, in that they knew which way he wasgoin g ot run when he took them on and he got caught a lot.
Think he needs to work on taking the first option more often rather than always trying to take on the opposition.
Think he will again play 22 games in '08

Hopefully just a case of 2nd(3rd year) blues.
I love his dash and you wouldn't want to taper that but I would like to see him tried on a wing and helping out down back where required.
I just think when he gets caught close to the oppositions goal it can punish us but I still think he has plenty to offer.
Let the kid loose and see what he's got.

Rainesy looked and played today more like his 2006-self than the poor kid who kept running himself into trouble last year. So hopefully as you say Magic last year was just a case of 2nd year blues after all coming 2nd in the rising star.

Raines and Tigers on the up

In many ways Andrew Raines is almost a mirror image of his Richmond side heading into the 2008 AFL season - seemingly disappointing last year but in reality perhaps not as bad as most people believe.
It (2006) was a season in which the Tigers also appeared to be on the verge of something special as they surprisingly finished ninth on the ladder and looked close to ending a finals drought stretching back to 2001.
Fast forward to 2007 and the Tigers finish last on the ladder, win their least number of games since 1960 and on the surface Raines appears to be another promising youngster to suffer the dreaded second year blues.

What did we all think of Raines' game last night?
-
Very good.
Was hard at it in the middle, better decision making and reasonable disposal.
-
was reasonably happy with his performance.
-
his disposal along with sugar was the worst for us on the night. raines was our weakest link last night, sugar did well but for a captain his disposal is still a toss.
raines will eventually get dropped for morton, cogs, polo, cotchin, edwards, connors etc
we are starting to get some depth
btw, all u howat knockers, watch how this guy plays, he is verymuch maligned and worth being in the team, much better at what he does than raines and sugar and never ever stoped running and shows courage
the good news about last night and our improving list, we many never see chippendale again

Raines has got a little shiner under his right eye today. He was on the Childrens' hospital appeal along with Cass and Thursty who both visit the hospital regularly to visit the sick kids. Rainesy also said he missed out on CLEO Bachelor of the Year.
As for last night I thought Rainesy was a lot better in the middle of the ground. He used the first option most times.

Spot on, also looked very agressive attacking the ball when he went into the middle.

Rexy loves him :-*
"RAINESYYYYYYY"
-
seem to repeat myself how much of the games is above the shoulders, in 2006 he was awesome, 2007 lost confidence and was a shadow.
few more games like that will get the confidence back and hopefully can progress from there :thumbsup

I thought Rainsey was very servicable last night.
He didn't try to take the player on all the time only when the situation necessated it ,
an example I remember was in the 3rd on the Southern Stand wing when he marked between two Carlton players, played on took them both on and passed it further up the ground to Richo.
A definite improvement from last year. With Rainsey in the midfield, Tiva and Hyde may permanently be on the outer now.

Very disappointed with his disposal ... certainly got put his body on the line but those kicks
Ask those I was sitting with I did a woofer valve at the end of the third when he got the h/ball from Suga and he put in that ... er... kick
