Title: TAMBLING does knee or ankle or foot. . . ?
Post by: tigersalive on January 25, 2008, 12:06:05 PM
Reported on SEN he's done his knee but it seems the rest of the internet are pretty sure it just an ankle.

But still bloody bad luck coming into the season proper.

Get well soon Rich and hope it doesnt keep you out for too long.  :-[

Give us the goss MT.

It didn't look good but we asked Jade Rawlings and he said Tambo is okay so there's a bit of confusion. Looked more like it was his ankle than a knee.

It happened right near the end of the scratch match too. Got driven into the ground in a tackle from behind which resulted in a free kick. They were going to play on thinking Tambo would get up himself but he didn't. The trainers had to come on and carry Blingers off. It didn't look like he could put any weight on his left leg. They must have taken him away straight away as there was no sign of Blingers when everyone was heading back to Punt Rd.

Tambling injury scare

Posted Jan 25, 2008

Talented Richmond player Richard Tambling broke down at Tigers’ training on Friday with what initially looked like a serious leg injury, but the club has confirmed that the 21-year-old instead suffered a minor ankle sprain.

The Tigers expect Tambling to be back at full fitness soon with his NAB Cup preparations still on schedule.

Tambling has played 53 games for the Tigers since making his debut in 2005.

News on footygoss is that it's a sprain and will not interfere with his pre-season target of playing in the NAB cup. Apperently he was really flying during this training session as well. Isn't that always the way!!

They do have to prepare the players for full contact. There is no point wrapping them up in cotton wool and then they get even worse injuries when someone like Barry Hall tackles them. I don't believe that the tackle would have been as you described it.

Look as unfortunate as the injury may be for Tambo or whether it was serious and how the bloke that laid the tackle would feel I look at it and say if that intensity is shown from now and the boys can continue that in the season ,then tackling a trait that  has not been a strong suit in teams Wallace has coached is really being addressed and that cannot be bad. Good tackling teams are those that can go deep into September.
Tom Hafey once said when Kevin Morris came to Richmond Sheeds and Bourke were laying into each other on the training track which was a common sight in that era. The boys need to get aggressive hungry combative warrior like rather than go through the motions. Unfortunate yes Tambo's injury unhappy no.

Agree with HT74 its good to see that intensity, its something the tigers have been missing of late. Yeah its a bummer Tambo got hurt at least it doesnt seem serious and wish him a speedy recovery.

Blingers was trying to break away from a contested pack when he got tackled by JON from memory and their momentum carried them forward into the turf.

Regrettable but I like the fact that JON seemed to be in everything on Friday.

Blingers was probably lucky it was only JON falling on top of him and not big Richo or Polak.

Blingers was at training today in the rehab group. He looked okay and he was wearing runners and white socks so no sign of a bandage or anything broken. The trainer said Tambo is fine and he was only on a light training.

I think you'll find Tambo's ankle is not serious, should be running within the week.

No need to rush things, the real stuff doesn't start until March  ;D

Tambling was doing the stats today with Gus and Tivs. He had thongs on with his right ankle tapped up. A slight limp but he was walking fine.
