Fantastic to see Ronaldson on the list after the preseason conjecture of his move to Adelaide for study reasons.
Very positive to see that Northern Knights (as well as some Calder Cannons) players continue to develop their footy at Coburg - hopefully this will continue to expand.
Can anyone (TFL - are you there???) provide some insight into #3 Paul Currie.
Paul Stewart has some size, is the vibe still strong ??

lol, Richo gets the coveted 69. :rollin
-
Still a very young Coburg list. Only 4 players over 22. Hopefully another Kingy story is on that list.

Stewart looked reall good up forward in one of Richmond's early short scratch matches. Kicked 2-3 goals in about 40mins.

Thats why our particular relationship with Coburg is a strong point for us and must nurtured to keep it that way. We have a nursery that we 'control' and potential first sight/call on a larger group of kids than many other clubs who are aligned to stronger and more independent VFL sides. Keeps us ahead of many in the pack.

hopefuly Collard has a run for coburg A grade this week still can,t understand? why he is playing ressies????

Last week was still a practice match in the VFL wasn't it? They may have been playing around with the teams.

Collard has the skills and knows where the goals are but he needs to work on building up his fitness. You've got to wonder what Freo are doing to their players now we've picked up three of them and all need(ed) to rebuild their fitness.

True smokey and furthermore Coburg get first grabs of Calder Cannons and some Northern Knights' kids who miss out on the draft. Having Coburg and Calder in affiliation with us is a bit like having the old ressies, U19's and U17's back again. A bonus for Richmond to have this kids' factory even if it's one rookie per year we get out of it.

According to Inside Football Ronaldson has bailed. Couldn't commit to VFL and is going to play with Balwyn.

Inside Football VFL Preview
Coburg Tigers.
Coach: Jade Rawlings (first season).
Captain: Paul Shelton.
Last year: second.
IN: Chris Stewart, Josh Jones, Daniel Bramich (North Heidelberg), Tas Clingan (Richmond), Nick Cattapan (Calder Cannons), Travis Dulic (Calder Cannons), Matthew Davis (Mt Gravatt).
OUT: Travis Ronaldson, Al Neville, Logan Hill, Ryan Anderson, Tommy Simpson, Jono Mullins, Myles Sewell.
Verdict: How to top 2007? That is the obvious question to ask of the Tigers, who rocketed up the ladder last season under Andy Collins, all the way to the grand final. Reputations were made: Nat Caruso emerged as a big-bodied workhorse, his little brother Fortunato as a crumb claimant with a cult following, and Paul Shelton as a topline onballer. The reserves premiership underlines the depth at the City Oval. The bulk of the list is back and strength in numbers should serve the Tigers and their new coach Rawlings well. Ronaldson's walk-out last Wednesday came as no surprise given he wasn't sighted before Christmas. Richmond pair Tristan Cartledge and Angus Graham can absorb the load, to be backed up by Steve Foster. Neville will be harder to replace. Key possie player Stewart and defender/onballer Jones will see senior action, and Nick Lynch and Nick Liddle are ready to move up from the reserves. Back in February somebody with a sting to his wit told Rawlings he could take the club from "hero to zero". But the Tigers again look a top-four team.

VFL Stabs - Inside Football
The whispers that persisted all summer were proved correct last Wednesday
when big Travis Ronaldsbn left the Coburg Tigers. Ronaldson, Coburg's free-spirited, inspirational captain last season, told coach Jade Rawlings he was unable to commit the time required to play in the VFL.
Rawlings said it was a blow for the Tigers to lose their "spiritual leader", especially after he'd signed a contract for 2008. "He's got a lot of things going on in his life at the moment, his uni courses, trying to find more permanent work" he said. "Travis felt it was going to be hard to put in the effort needed for VFL footy. He knows it's more demanding than what it has been in the past."
Ronaldson did some sports writing for the Gippsland Times at the end of last season and began training at Coburg only after Christmas. Even then there were suggestions he was unsure where he would line up.
"We had a strong discussion about where he needed to be, and he committed to me about getting here three nights a week," Rawlings said. "All roads were leading to the start of the season. We submitted our list Friday and then he hit us with this. The timing couldn't have been worse, but you've got to be happy about what you're doing and he didn't seem to be."
Ronaldson has been linked with Eastern league club Balwyn. But Rawlings said the 25-year-old told Coburg he would play no football this season. If he does strike a deal with another club he would need a clearance from the Tigers.

Big shame losing Ronaldson, although we're much better placed with Richmond players able to do ruck work now.
Have lost our good experienced players so it's hard to see us doing as well this year. Still bulk of Richmond players playing for Coburg will be very young.
Can anyone clarify if Tom Simpson is playing? Is in the squad list, but in the IF article he is listed as an out.

Shame to see Ryan Anderson go. Thought he had a shot at the big time. Anyone know where's he going

I thought he followed Collins to SA.

Yep Anderson and Hill went to West Adelaide with Collins.

I would have liked Ryan Anderson to get a shot at a Rookie Listing with us ... I cant see what blokes like Sylvestor can really offer in terms of improvement towards finals success.

Silvester's a back-up defender until Rance matures in a couple of years time.
Looking forward to seeing how Chris Stewart does at FF. He was impressive in a Richmond scratch match.
