Richo will be on the 'Meet the Press' segment on Footy Classified tonight. The show has just started now.
-
Richo, Neitz and Thompson vs Caro, Hutchy and I think Blake? from the Hun.
Richo's comments
* Ask why he's never been captain? Just the way things turned out.
* Are you angry with the club's recruiting around you over your 14 years? No not angry. Yeah it was frustrating only playing finals once.
* Terry's 2011 comments - Terry sat down with the players before going to the media. They knew what he meant. That we would take a step back (which happened last year) before going forward and that what's happened as we've already won a couple of games already after winning only 3 last year. The public got the wrong impression because the media selectively edited Terry's comments.
* Richo said to Caro it was blantant lie that players in the leadership group were unhappy with Terry's comments. Caro wouldn't reveal her source and kept saying she knows it was was true. Richo said it's a lie as he was in the leadership group at the time and knows it's a lie and then took Caro to task about how the players had to put up with supporters having a go at them for undermining the coach while walking dow the street.
* When Richo started along with Neitz in 1993 there would be 20 off-field things a week reported if the media was back them like it is now. So player behaviour has improved greatly.
* Richo took aim at Blake for writing about how the club formulates gameplans yet he's never seem him down at training.
* Richo asked Caro how much does check the 'facts' she bases her articles on. Neitz and Thompson got stuck in to into 3 journos. Caro said to all of them "do you honestly think we make stories up?"
-
Richo did well. Stood up for the club. Especially enjoyed him going toe to toe with Caro :thumbsup :clapping.
-
Caro's source is probably Jackstar lol.

Damien Barratt from the Herald Sun I'm pretty sure it was.

Richo done very well with his answers & his questions, He loves RFC & his football.
l was lucky to catch that segment, l fell asleep before the start of the show & my daughter woke me
-
Caro's source is probably Jackstar lol.
you will never know ;)
-
Of course Richo is going to deny it.
Would beleive Caro is on the money.
Richo is employed by the RFC , he has to deny it.
mail was right in regards to senior players not happy.
One was quoted as saying, ""this is worse than frawley days""
Ummmmmmmmm
Feel free to P/message me if you want to know who ;)

last 2 weeks have been so much better than frawley days it is not funny, never played this good and postive under dudly spudly

Boy have we got short memories, 2001 Finals series ring a bell

Sorry Jackstar, team feels a lot different from 2001. To me 2001, though exciting, always felt like a false dawn. although less successful the currently emerging team fills me with far more confidence for the future.

yeh and look where that got the club in Frawleys following years..
if my memory serves me correct we were never gonna WIN a flag that year unless you are stating otherwise Jackstar..interesting concept you have going on there.

your memory is short, i do remember thase days, i we over achieved back then, and even though we had a good yr that yr, the brand and style and quality of footy we have played is still far better than the style and quality we played in 2001
our current list and game plan wiould have flogged the 2001 team
i know u hate terry, i havent thought much of him either but he still is our coach and i cannot fault the way he has coached us for 3 out of 5 weeks
jack its about time u gave terry and the club some slack, becaus ei have a feeling they will make u eat ur words
if we succeed with terry i willl be wrapped even though i have bagged him, but i will be fair and judge hime after this and next yr
now u say u know footy, and no doubt u do, so swallow ur pride and admit that the past 2 weeks our footy has been of a better standard than 2001!
-
Gotta say I was rapt with the side and how it played in 2001.
No false dawn that year for me, it was exciting to watch. The false dawn didn't hit me until the 2nd half of 2002.

Agree FF, I also enjoyed every minute of 2001. I just didn't feel it would last for some reason and unfortunately it didn't.

i hear ya, but the way we have played the past 2 weeks has been a better stamdard and more exciting game style than 2001, and also less predictable than 2001

2001 was a good side, we got beaten by Brisbane in Brisbane in the preliminary final who won the next 3 premierships.
we have proved nothing yet & could collapse for the rest of the year, dont start blowing horns until we reach the finals
-
As for Caro :sleep Neitz brought her back to earth on the Ben Holland remarks, she said herself she rang him to apologize that she got it wrong say he was a useless footballer :rollin useless players dont play 200 games of AFL football Caro :shh

Lets believe the journalist - people who write stories in newspapers have no motive at all to see the story before the facts get in the way. My mummy told me that right after she explained that I was born in a cabbage patch.
If you had any balls, you would name the player publicly and that player would sue the pants off your arse to shut you up once and for all.

agree Fish.
2001 was a fantastic year.
We got beat in a prelim by a team that won 3 flags in a row, and probably the team of the decade.
who will ever forget the final at the g when we beat Carlton.
great win :thumbsup
-
Don't want to be a party pooper but I seem to recall Koutta doing a number on us and going down, they had to take SOS off Richo and game over - and we got seriously pumped in the pre final - it was all over by quarter time - and poor old Danny thought we could top up with a few ageing trades and before we knew it we were gone for 10 years - :banghead

I was pretty happy with that whole season but I'll never forget the total outclassing in the prelim. I had an inkling we may have been playing above ourselves after the 1st final v Essendon and this was hammered home 2 weeks later. Nothing came as a surprise in the next 4 years after that. It seemed such anticlimactic shame cheering Brodders off for the last time after a comprehensive defeat in such an important game. :'(
-
I enjoyed 2001 too (what I saw it as I was OS for part of it) but that semi-final was one of the worse finals ever played (at least it was on tv). Grinding footy at its best. Wasn't it just 4 goals kicked by us after quarter time? :P. If the 70 point floggings in the other two finals weren't are sign we were miles away then that SF should have been another clue. Losing Brodders and Benny also were big losses in terms of leadership, experience and quality.
The playing group then had the stuffing knocked out of its confidence in round 2, 2002 when Spud came out during the week about how much better and tougher we were compared to 2001 and we got ripped to shreds once again by the Bombers. That was the end of the road for that group but Spud just kept topping up with recycled duds and gutted the whole list :banghead.
-
Talking about recycled duds, M Graham , K. Kingsley and lets see if the new whipping boy Jordon McMahon can join the group.
We dare not mention the fanstastic recruiting by Miller of Morrison and Weller :shh

Well they do have a motive - to sell as many papers as possible and Richmond FC stories sell :yep. The journos copped their fair whack last night. Nathan Thompson was great too :thumbsup.

Absolutely unfair on Graham. He was recruited when our list was at its youngest and potentially most vulnerable, to provide some protection and leadership, both of which I thought he did very very well. He brought good virtues and qualities to the club and was a positive influence on our kids. I haven't heard anyone speak down about him as a person and he was far from our worst on the field. I watched him shut J. Brown completely out of a game at the Gabba that had a direct influence on our victory. Horses for courses and we got more than value for our money out of him.
