I know people wanted us to win today...but imho todays result was in the best long term interests of the RFC. We now have atleast 2 of the top 5 picks and maybe 2 of the top 4 depending on how things go! I know people dont want the spoon...but again its in our interests next week to get pumped by 120 points .... not because of the national draft but just to give Greg Miller the opportunity of getting a gun player in the PSD. In the end, i think this will be worth it. We can look forward to 2005 with some new hope...and the knowledge that come national draft time...we will take two of the outstanding youngsters in the nation! :cheers
-
This will be our third spoon in 17 years and our worst losing streak in one season. That's a disgrace and should never be tolerated. We now have more spoons that the dogs :o
Not having a go at you TigersRoar and I know where you coming from and history may show you to be absolutely correct but I don't see much difference between picks 1 & 4 and picks 2 & 5. One pick ahead provides no guarantees. Hodge, Goddard, Fraser, Riewoldt were first picks while Judd, Wells, Koschitzke, Ball were 2nd picks.
Just heard if the Hawks lose by 4 goals more than us next week then they can still get the spoon.
-
I agree MT - how any true Richmond supporter can get a positive out of a wooden spoon beats me. :(
-
This is the best thing that could have happened to us for no other reason than that it reveals the truth: we are the worst team in the competition.
We have finally hit rock bottom.
-
Yep, i'm ecstatic about it John lol
-
I think we already knew we were crap before 2.10pm today :-\.
Richmond under Frawley and the Australian male soccer team - the two worst and softest sporting teams I have ever seen.
We need to get rid of this sickening "I can't give a stuff" culture. Feel sorry for the minority in our side that do bust their guts out yet for no reward because of their mentally soft teammates.
-
If that doesn't hurt, then I don't know what to say... :banghead
-
this was truly rock bottom even viewed through a few chardys in a corporate box. What got into Ty, I have never seen anger like that on a footy field, and it was pure lose control anger, what has the smart arse shotgun done to make him and the others so angry? A few of our players saw fit to give him a shove on the way past, Campbell being one of them. I mean I know the guys a wanker but to make so many so angry??? And what the ??? with the hairdos of the hawks? Is Crawford so high profile that some of the others have to go the mohawk or the mad max reject desert rat to get a little attention, and then to get beaten by the show ponies!!!! :banghead
-
LMFAOOOOO@Ty Zantuck trying to show his masculinity by taking on shotgun Williams. At least pick on some one your own size Ty. Fancy getting reported over a useless wimp like Williams.
-
It was like he was shaking a gollywog lol
I actually enjoyed seeing him go psycho - amusing. How many weeks you reckon?
-
got no problem with the size issue, little people can be the biggest smart alecs, ala libba, just because they small doesnt mean they can get get away with it. Perhaps Ty could be a little more "subtle" next time :P
I also had absolutely NO problem with him showing his masculinity, none at all lol. i reckon maybe 3 weeks
-
Getting agitated by a hack like Williams is just plain sad. But then, Ty's a hack himself so he probably saw it as a fitting challenge.
Will get 1-2 weeks max if past incidents of jumper punching are anything to go by.
-
He's not a hack
-
Not justifying his actions but I'd reckon it was a couple of dodgy umpiring decisions in Hawthorn's forward line that resulted in goals that got to Ty. A couple of Hawks were play-acting for frees and the umpires got sucked in.
Sam on MMM was going off at the umpiring and blamed them for inflaming the niggles in the game. He wanted a royal commission into the standard of umpiring.
-
the reason why these losses are good is not only the draft but the fact that wallace has seen how much crap he has to get rid off...in past seasons players have played 2 or 3 good games near the end of the year and survived the cut...now the truth has been well and truly revealed. for me another massive pumping of the team should occur...and when we finish last...miller should find out who is the best uncontracted player and push him into the draft...finally i can see light at the end of the punt rd tunnel!
and ps...danny frawley...only you could have managed this so brilliantly...to lose 14 straight and get us the early picks...take a :bow mr frawley :scream
-
but the fact that wallace has seen how much crap he has to get rid off...in past seasons players have played 2 or 3 good games near the end of the year and survived the cut
I don't think Wallace is that stupid somehow ::)
-
As ive said,i think its symbolic and also warranted that we finish last in Frawleys last season at the club.
Watching the game today i couyldnt help but be abhored with the negative influence this guy has had on the team over the last 5 yerars.
They seem to all play the style of game he played at st.kilda and definitely have no method.
It's a GREAT thing that we've gotten rid of him and i mean that from the bottom of my oxen heart.
Some of u say you wish him the best in his endeavours - not me!
I hope he pays for the setbacks he has imposed on us due to a mixture of his simple mind and his mis-informed ego and opinions.
As for TY i was very happy to see him snap like a twig, who wouldn't after 5 years on death row.
The guy had just had a gutfull !!!
I would love to smash that wiliams turd and credit to Ty for making him seem like a little biatch.
I thought it showed that he had the schit to re-sign him.
BTW,Arent Hawthorn the softest little mummys boys in the forward line with faggots like Williams and Bateman putting on performances that make the soccer look tough...but then again,
they beat us ! :help
God knows how much better these kids will be,both mentally and physically under Wallace
-

I might say that on here, but what i'm thinking of what i'd like to do to Spud ain't wise to put :rollin
-
Put your veggie peeler away slowly Froars :scream
-
The vegie peeler would be too nice lol
Very clever Gibby - i finally caught on
Spud - peeler duh lol
-
Another wooden spoon beckons and I am so angry I cannot put it into words (hence why I didn't go near a computer last night >:().
And I am sorry but I don't give a stuff about draft choices at the moment - the first 2 picks in the draft will not make me feel any better about being last. And to top it off to be beaten by Hawthorn - you know Hawthorn the club that cannot get a coach at the moment, who have the likes of Williams who mouths off but cannot and will not take a hard hit.
It was an embarassing and insipid performance by some of so called "top tier" players and hopefully some of them will be gone at seasons end (that's if someone is dumb enough to take them :'()
The only thing that keeps me going is the kids, the likes of Hartigan, Jackson, Coughlan, Schulz.
-
Its sad bc of the mentality that we have taken that its ok to finish last. ITS NOT OK! And its sad bc its a true reflection of where we had to be. I mean we are the worst in the comp and realisation has hit us.
Ive never been more disgusted all year (except for the Geelong game in Rd 4)....I was furious...livid....This season just cant stuffen end. There is no joy in seeing kids go out there and die in the a$$...there is no joy in going in the wet to the footy....there is no joy in seeing the slime-balls in the box and that includes you Hutchy you piece of filth walk down that isle with their heads down just going through the motions.....there is no joy. Next year can come and it will be quicker but stuff YOU Miller for putting me and every other Tiger fan through this season.......stuff YOU for taking out that clause and making 2004 the worst year ever as a Tiger fan.....stuff YOU Frawley for 5 years of setting us back....and I doubt you will ever EEEEEEEVVVVVERRRRRRR get another coaching job again.
Note: This post was written at boiling point. I am furious...I am burning with anger....I dont want to go this week, but I do so I can sing the GOODBYE song....but I dont want to have to belt a Richmond supporter that tells me to show respect bc he is a good guy....my head is going to bust....

I'm with you om21. I can’t feel good about a wooden spoon, regardless of what’s at the end of it. It’s demoralising. I’m sure I’d eventually get over it, if it were to happen, but right now I hate looking at the ladder.
I expected and wanted to win yesterday, as much as I've ever wanted to win. And I'm shattered about the result. It's going to be a long week waiting for next weekend's results. I don't want to finish last. I've experienced it before and I don't want to experience it again.

Shattered is a good word TS - because despite all the anger I was shattered yesterday. And the worst bit - the usual suspect let us down again - gee how many times have I said that this season?
While we all spend so much time blaming the coach (and quite rigthly too) a majority of our players shouldn't escape unscathed. If they don't respect the coach I don't care but the fact they show such little or no respect to us the members and supporters is what makes my blood boil.
I pay a lot of money to support them and year after year I get so little in return.
Get beaten by a better side playing well but lose like they did yesterday..... I ask myself why I bother

Which is why I aint sure if Im going to go next week.....I mean how the stuff can anyone justify me seeing 3 spoons in my life-time at the ripe age of 23 is beyond me....
-
Hang in there Om - it can turn around in a couple of years - just look at the ladder in 2000 and see who was in the bottom five - Port, Dockers, St Kilda, Collingwood and West Coast.
When Froars took me to the 1967 Grand Final it was 23 years since we'd won one - don't give up.
I expect to receive about 4000 wooden spoons if we finish last - but I won't give up on them. The good times are too good.

We had a great day didn't we pop :rollin

Yes the good times are great RonBranton but the bad times are just getting harder and harder to take.
When we last won the sppon it didn't matter because we had no money and they were a group of kids.
Now we have some very highly paid blokes who jog around the oval as if they don't care.
I suppose that's the bigget difference - I care and they apparently don't :banghead

Summed it up perfectly WP. Back in '89 when we last "won" the wooden spoon we were so far below the salary cap that it wasn't funny (out of necessity of course). Most of it spent on country kids who came cheap. Compare that to now where we now pay the whole 100% for the same result if not worse as many of our blokes now couldn't give a stuff!
-
I Dont GAF about the wooden spoon.
We ARE the WORST team in the comp.
Our leadership group is laughable at best.
We deserve to finish last.
Dont expect miracles folks,we are the worst!
Yesterdays loss should magnify the non efforts of the heartless peas in the squad.
FACE FACTS -WE ARE THE WORST TEAM -WORSE THAN HAWTHORN.
McDonald can outcoach FRaw;ey - LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO]'
I hope the Frawley legacy at Punt road fukken dies the second he walks out the door.
-
Hey Ox, I reckon any of us on here could outcoach Frawley :banghead
-
I can see a rapid turn around happening next year. The team has been coaching itself for 5 years. If Danny talks the same poo out on the ground that he talks off it how could any player be expected to understand it or interprate it. The players probably turned off 4 years ago.l
-
I am disgusted and appaulled with the players and in particular the complete and utter lack of leadership, pride and aggression.
I watched our captain jog past Richo wrestling 2 Hawthorn players in the last qtr.
The same bloke who had it in him to give out enough abuse to give away a certain goal, couldnt fly the flag for his teamate FFS.....as Captain!
Its unfair just to single Campbell out though.
We are so devoid of tough players we rate the likes of Zantuck and Fleming, just because they have a go!
Im a proud and loyal tiger, but geez lm shattered at what lve seen this season :'(
-
And you call yourself a Richmond supporter with such criticism Boogie.
Only kidding lol
Agree with all of it.

Hahahaha your a well read up lady Froars!! :rollin
-
Actually, totally ignorant ;) but your legendary status reaches far places :rollin
-
Just to be fair to Campbell, there were plenty of times in the match he got between his players and the opposition to break them up and ensure we didn't give away free kicks. But as for flying the flag in a scuffle, he is useless.
-
Good to see you are still flying the Campbell flag JohnF.
-
lol, I'm trying my best Shawry. It's getting harder and harder to stick up for him now that he is washed up. But I wouldn't have a go at a bloke that has finished in the top two of our best and fairest 7 times.
-
Yeah yeah ::)
:rollin
-
lmfaooooo heard it all before froars?
-
Yep lol
I actually think Campbell played his best footy a couple of years ago - not when he won his B&Fs. But then he got injured - shame, he had a lot to prove to his doubters like me and he was doing well.
Adios Weenie!
-
I did say its unfair to single Campbell out,but as Captain and leader of the side,he should be in there defending his teamates.
-

I agree froars.
In terms of his best footy last year IMHO was Cambo's best before he suffered from his calf/achilles injuries. Before last year Tiger fans would lay into him but he shut them up for good and people realised what a terrific footy player he was. Finally having some decent partners in crime in the midfield in Cogs (doing the inside stuff) and Johnson enabled him to not have to worry every week about coping with the opposition's best tagger and concentrate on his own game. It also enabled him to play in more natural "outside" positions on the ground rather than trying to fill in for us as the inside midfielder he was/is clearly not. This went along way to us starting the year 6-2. Once injuries due to a long season kicked into these three and with no depth we were stuffed.
-
JohnF, if your going to drop it.....throw the flag to me....Ill proudly wave the Campbell flag. I think the guy has been a credit to the club, althougth there are some things that I wouldn't defend, I just think the guy is singled out bc he is at the helm and thats fair enough to...
