Title: Hafey still regretful over 'Whale' Roberts trade
Post by: one-eyed on May 15, 2008, 01:11:39 AM
KB had Tommy on his show yesterday morning talking about trading older players and how certain players are the heart and soul of a club. Tommy said he regreted 'Whale' Roberts being traded and remembered how stunned everyone around the club was the next day after it happened. With respect to John [Pitura], he would've taken the trade back the very next day if he could had.

This trade, which included Graham Teasdale (who went on to win a Brownlow) and Francis Jackson (our current recruiting manager) was the beginning of the end of that dynasty.  Losing these guys, especially the Whale, tore at the very fabric of the team and we never really fully recovered.

good bloke Old Graeme Teasdale ;D had him do some work for us on a job once
also played footy with his brother Peter in my footy travels
one of historys big mistake that trade, would have been nice to keep the Whale & Teaser & could have been more flags & a brownlow
