joel back in the team................discuss?
-
Worth a try.
Play him in the forward line and see what he can do.
Hopefully he does well and we trade him at the end of the year.
:thumbsup
-
Good news to see Joel back, lets see him kick some goals & set some up
Bowden to Morton Goal :thumbsup
-
Good decision, we should bring in Pettifer vs Essendon as well ;D then the grand plan has a chance of coming to fruition.
-
If Joel's going to play it's only going to be as a forward. He better kick straight this week though. I reckon he's on his last chance.
-
Hope they resist the temptation to throw him into the back line if things aren't going too well. For better or worse he is not the future back there.

think ur right mt, last role of the dice for joel, if he cant cut the mustad up fwd this week, he will be sent to afl oblivian

we need to build his currency up, perhaps later in the year then come season's end. goodbye.
if we r to move forward i dont see a spot for him in the team.
we have others more than capable to fill his role
adios amigo
-
i cant believe were still persisting with him.
tezza has realises jolene is way too slow now for the backline so what does he do?
he moves jolenes exquisite slow motion skills into the forward line instead???
we're even determined to try and create another position for him i mean, how many chances do you need?
there goes our chase out of the forward line :banghead

The Club is remaining mum.
Bowden's absence has been a highly sensitive issue for the Tigers, and the club refused to comment on his return last night.

perhaps for cracking the shi.ts when he was originally told he was going back to coburg.
some people dont react well to news like that and clubs dont like that.
school boy stuff. who knows just a guess!!

Well we all know he has slowed down and not had the best year but his effort and proffesionalism last week was top class and as such he should be recalled. You have to set culture in the club where effort is rewarded no matter who you are. The way he encoraged the kids was great and didnt look to me like he was sulking at all. It even looked like he was enjoying his new role. Maybe he can be played as a half forward where he should of been played all along. Fire away about he is not our future but to me he has been a class player for a long time and had been forced to play a role that was not him.
-
I'm more annoyed about who he replaced. Schulz has been terrific in the backhalf this year and even on the weekend playing for the Burgers he one of the best afield. He will be part of our future and even if Joel has a blinder int he forwardline I think this is a step back for our development.
All the same it will be interesting to see how he preforms in the forwardline where hopefully his lack of pace is less exposed and his footy smarts, experience, skills and size are assets.
Time will tell

Royal on Joel:
On SEN Choco said they told Joel 4-5 weeks ago that he'll go back to Coburg and play a new role. He should be admired for it and he's been successful at it.
"He's been in really good form at Coburg playing multiple positions, playing midfield and playing forward, so no doubt tomorrow you'll be seeing him play those positions" Royal said on Friday morning.
As for Joel spending a month a Coburg - "I think what it does show is the depth of the Richmond Football Club was now at a stage where players don't get played continually who don't deserve opportunities. And that goes for the best player in the team down to our first year players."

he was dropped because Terry and Kingy think Joel is a turd.

ahahahahahaha :lol
Anyway he is on his last legs. If it buckets down tomorrow and the game is hard and tough in the clinches due to the soggy ball expect Joel to be sitting on the pine or lining up for Coburg as the team the coaching staff and Joel will not be able to conceal his softness. Joel has not won a hard ball since the Monday night West Coast game in 1997.

Joel was dropping into the hole in front of the like of Brown and Lynch with a broken cheekbone. And won BF's and made the AA side in that period. To say he is not in our best XXII is abit stupid. He has his flaws but is skill one of our most class assets at the end of the day at this stage. The like of Tivendale and Howatt are nothing players, but I feel there is still a future @ RFC for Joel.
I think there is room in the side for a proper FF, Bowden or Hughes should take that role as the 6th/7th forward.

Thats just rubbish you wrote HT
has always puts his body on the line backing into packs
dont worry he will regain his form his always been a slow season starter & l'm sure you will have a different opinion come years end
you dont win 2 B&F being soft & can remember a supporter saying how weak he was on radio to Robert Walls
Wallsy shot the supporter down & every caller after that did the same
l'm suprised at you >:(
-
at least today his body language showed some humility.
Usually it's macho bravado exuding from him as he dodges the HB.
-
very good team oriented game by joel imo, we should persist with him up fwd just to have an experienced smart footballer up there
-
He was a long way from the worst Tiger on Saturday, was not in the best either but will keep his spot for me.
-
The only problem I had was his "team-oriented" performance was more forced than natural. When he say Richie stream forward he really should have said no and gone back and take the set-shot. Instead he was fixed on the team-things and made a poor decision handing off to richie

cant blame Joel for Tamblings bad game
joel played very good for the conditions & assisted goals & kicked goals
those who missed goals Joel layed off to them were easy missed shots infact too easy

Bowden is back for good: Wallace

JOEL Bowden is back, and he's not about to go away again.
The Richmond dual best-and-fairest spent a month in the VFL before making his triumphant return to the ones, but as a forward who spent some time through the middle, not in his customary role as a running defender.
Coach Terry Wallace said there was no doubt about which level the 29-year-old would be playing at this weekend, as the Tigers face up to Essendon in the 'Dreamtime at the G' match.
"Look, I thought Joel played very well. I thought he was in our best half-a-dozen players last Saturday afternoon, and did his job, so there's no question about where he sits," Wallace said on Wednesday.
"He went back for four weeks to learn a new role, and showed clearly, coming back into the side, that he handled that role very well."

hmmmmmm
why why why
play Joel up forward !
-
The members where I was gave a big cheer everytime Joel got the ball last week so he must have done okay. Joel hasn't been that popular in a long while. Usually he's the whipping boy along with Tivs.
-
Thought Joel played very well tonight as a hit up forward, also got back to lend support when we were under the pump.
Very happy with his new role on tonights performance.
-
Agreed TFL - thought he was too qucik and smart for Fletcher when he was on him
Gave us a mobile target in the F50
-
it was good to see joel last night..he was in our top 5 for sure last night.
loved his game, created space in our forward area and i think he can prove a handful up there this year..
-
Joel's just showing where he should've been played most of his career.
Agreed TFL - thought he was too qucik and smart for Fletcher when he was on him
Everyone was too quick and smart for Fletcher on Saturday night ;). How about him kicking the ball off the ground straight to Blingers who then pops it over Fletcher's head to Richo. Time is up for dustbin.

him and few others me thinks.... :whistle
Oh dear Mal Michael - looks terribly unfit....the all white alternate strip of the Bendigo bombers is not too flattering to "big" Mal :rollin
I will say it again Lloyd looks lost....hmmm :whistle
:lol :lol :rollin :rollin

No midfield quality to set Lloyd up with lace out passes onto the chest.
No Lucas or other forward to take the pressure off him. Just no quality at Essendon. That's why Lloyd looks lost.
Bombers veterans are gone Michael Fletcher and co. Will be worse off in 2009 the Bombers. Performances next year with no key positions players will make this years results look like a premiership year for the Dons.
