A snippet from SEN:
* Wallace said Cotchin still is a long way from his full potential. He can't wait till he gets a full preseason under his belt.
* Melbourne game was solid but not outstanding. The win was soured by the underselling of Melbourne's performance in match reports.
-
A bit more from SEN
* Plough conceded he wouldn't give Richmond a pass mark on the first half of the season. The two games we were in a positon to win ( Dogs, Saints), if we had won those then we would be in reasonable shape. Seasons are decided by winning the close games (Port last year). It's not acceptable.
* Every team goes through a point (where they go through flat patches). Adelaide did a fews back due to their training patterns. We'll trick and change up a few things. It's a mental thing at the end of the day. It shouldn't be happening but it's been identified so we'll deal with it.

from my reakoning we will eventually be in the envialble position which WCE have experienced in the past with judd, kerr, and cuz.
having 3 genuine midfielders that will definately need tagging. Axel, Lids and Cotch.
unless something goes horribly awry in the next two years this is surely a monty to happen :pray
along with the hopeful return of Coughlan and the contributions of a whole host of others, our midfield looks to be building nicely.
now theres something in itself we can all get a little excited about.

Still on West Coast, they didn't exactly have a powerhouse forward line, infact either did the Cats.
The secret is the middle and the backline.

Next month will shape Tigers: Wallace

RICHMOND coach Terry Wallace has conceded that the Tigers failed to gain a pass mark in the first half of the year.
Their season record sits at 4-7-1 after Sunday's win over Melbourne, but it was a couple that got away earlier in the year that caused the Tigers to miss the grade.
"The two games that we were in a position to win – I think if we got the job done when we were three goals in front of the Bulldogs, and if we'd beaten St Kilda when we had two shots in the last minute of the game, I reckon we'd be in reasonable shape," Wallace said on Tuesday.
"Every season is really balanced off by winning your close games, and getting results in your close games.
"We've had a couple of opportunities to nail games this year, and haven't nailed them, and that's the difference between acceptable and not-quite-acceptable, to be frankly honest."
The Tigers have Port Adelaide, Carlton, West Coast, Essendon and the Lions coming up before August, and while Wallace noted that the coming weeks would define their season, he waved off suggestions that September action was imminent.
"Well, you've got to get those good couple of wins first. You don't get ahead of yourself in this competition, and one-in-a-row is not really a platform for anything at all, and that's the next challenge.
"We've got some games over the next few weeks that are going to be really important for the club.
"If we want to have any sort of say in having a strong, vibrant second half of the year, then probably the next month is really important to our footy club."

Richmond needs 1 power type forward, 2 inside/outside midfielders and a +200cm ruck. Id rather se us have 5 gun midfielders than just 3.

I think the point Wayne and myself are trying to make is that with a dominant mid field, anyone can kick goals when they are up forward. It is the speed with which the ball comes down these days that make a good forward set up. eg. where is Lloyds bags of goals gone? and the Tigers kicked 8 2nd qtr goals sunday and it most of them were set up by the quick movement of the footy.

Richmond tackles fade outs
Rachel Hewitt | June 17, 2008 03:27pm
RICHMOND coach Terry Wallace says the Tigers need to overcome the third term "drop-off" that has plagued the team in recent weeks.
The Tigers booted eight goals in the second quarter of Saturday's win against Melbourne, but finished the game with six consecutive behinds.
Speaking at a press conference at Punt Road today, Wallace said the team's first-half performance was good, but the "drop-off" in the third quarter was disappointing.
"It's happened now on more than a few occasions. Our last win prior to that, (over) Essendon, we dropped off in the third quarter and we certainly dropped off against Adelaide the week before in the third quarter," Wallace said.
"Over a five or six week period it's become somewhat of an issue, so that's something that we'll deal with."
"We'll trick up a few things and try to change a few things just to see whether it makes a difference, but at the end of the day, it's mental. It's just something that you need to get on top of."
Wallace said some tactics might not make any difference, "but at least we've tried to do something about it rather than just pretend it's not happening".
After defeating the Demons by 22 points, the Tigers are on the hunt for a spot in the top eight. Wallace said the next four matches were "pretty important" for the club.
Those matches include two interstate games. The first is this weekend's clash against Port Adelaide at AAMI Stadium.

Wallace slams fixture imbalance

Richmond coach Terry Wallace says it is about time his team got the opportunity to have home-ground advantage when playing non-Victorian clubs.
"I hope it won't go on for year after year," Wallace said of his club's fixture imbalance against Port Adelaide.
"We are hoping for a better run than that."
"We were the 16th side in the competition (last year) and yet we play less games against interstate sides in Victoria than any other side in the competition," Wallace said.

Isn't this an advantage when it comes to crowd numbers ??
May have been a request from the club to produce greater attendences, so I am not sure why TW is floating this.
Also, subjectively, I'd thought that non-Victorian club have a superior away record when playing at the MCG or TD than Melbourne based sides playing interstate because they regularly get to play on the 2 Melbourne venues.
