VFL Round 12
Frankston vs Coburg Tigers
Sunday June 29 @ Frankston Oval
Ressies: 11:10 AM
Seniors: 2:00 PM
nb. No broadcast again this week
-
Cogs will be playing in the early game for those going :thumbsup. Hopefully he gets through okay :pray.
-
Cogs....Cogs who? ;)
If he can just get some games into his legs and regain some confidence, speed and form before next years pre-season then I will be happy. I would consider it extremely unlikely for him to make the AFL team at this stage of proceeding but if we are completely out of finals contention then there is still a chance.
Good luck to one of the unluckiest men in the league :'(

Eastlink is open just in time for this game!!!!

Doubt he'll play AFL this year. The main thing for Cogs is to play and get through to the end of the season without any further injuries be it a knee or hammy in the same leg. Best of luck to him :pray.
Eastlink is open just in time for this game!!!!
They must have known Cogs was making his comeback ;D

Cheers TFL :).
Looks like I misheard about Cogs :-[ or they've decided since to push Cogs' return back. Good to see Collins back in the seniors. Cass and Howat dropped back to the ressies. Not good signs for them.

12/10 rule applies this week - so 2 of the 14 listed will not play

Perhaps TFL and even if that's the case only 12 can play and they've listed 14
Silly rule the 12/10 IMHO
Hope Josh Riddle plays in the ressies - I am a bit of a fan of the kid. Ditto Matt Vasilevski

Ta WP. That explains why Collard and Howat are in the ressies being rookies.

Looks like a windy day down at Frankston!!!
Will be heading off just after 8am to make the trip down there, may use the new Eastlink not sure yet.
WP you better get yourself ready as Josh Riddle is in!!

Coburg defence seems to be going ok. Only conceded 7 goals to half time. Seems like we have no midfield and no forwards.

Disappointing result but it was probably the weakest Coburg side especially up forward for some time. Sounds like they picked things up in the second half but the ordinary first half had already cost them the game.
Good to see Collo in the bests. Same with Connors. Tivs once again shows he is a good player at this level. Good to hear also Rance was solid.
-
Can just see in now, Ins Tivendale, JON :banghead
-
Reports on BF suggest Collins was pretty much BOG, god I hope we finally see him in the seniors. Has a lot of the Cotchin poise that we so badly need.
-
In: Collins, Connors
Out: Hyde, Bowden

Agree he has the poise but not the size. You won't see Collo break tackles with a shrug of the hips. Still I hope he gets a game soon as his footskills are good.

Match Report Vs. Frankston
coburgtigers.com.au
The Burgers travelled out to Frankston this week to take on the Dolphins and were met with a cold winters day. Coburg were slight favourites heading into the match, but with key Coburg players lining up for Richmond they were not as strong as previous weeks.
From quarter time onwards Coburg outscored the Dolphins nine goals to eight, but it was a disappointing first quarter by the boys that cost them the four points. In the end Frankston ran out nineteen point winners.
The Dolphins had most of the play in the first term and converted this onto the scoreboard with ten scoring shots to the Burgers three.
¼ Time: Coburg 2.1 (13) Frankston 5.5 (35)
Both teams kicking efficiency was very ordinary in the second quarter, and while the Burger forwards could only manage one goal the backs were prolific in keeping the Dolphins to only two. Jarrod Silvester chopped of many forward line attacks from Frankston and used the ball well coming out of full back. Andrew Horne and James Keogh also provided great support moving the ball out of defence, but Coburg struggled getting it into their forward fifty; the forwards had limited opportunities at goal.
½ Time: Coburg 3.3 (21) Frankston 7.7 (49)
Coburg’s first half was their worst for the season, but to the boys credit they fought back really well in the third term, and put themselves back in with a great chance of victory at the last change.
Greg Tivendale was back to his best form, collecting possessions at will and also contributing four excellent goals. He was a key reason as to why the Burgers got back into the game in the third quarter. Andrew Collins played his best game for the Burgers, winning a lot of contested ball and used it well bringing his Burger team mates into the play. Going into the last term the Burgers were within three goals and a solid chance of running over the top of the Dolphins.
¾ Time: Coburg 8.4 (52) Frankston 10.10 (70)
Both sides had chances of victory in the last term, but it was Frankston who made the most of their chances and kept a clear head, not letting Coburg play the attacking football they would have liked. Daniel Connors was great in patches and provided the spark that could have lifted the Burgers to victory, but in the end Frankston were too strong and finished nineteen points ahead of Coburg.
The boys fought together well all day after quarter time and there were a lot of positives for coach Jade Rawlings to take out of the match. Coburg face the Box Hill Hawks this Sunday at Box Hill City Oval beginning at 2.00pm, while the undefeated reserves begin at 11.10am.
Coburg Tigers 2.1 3.3 8.4 11.5 (71)

RESERVES
After a close first quarter the reserves continued on there fantastic season with a ten goals victory over the Dolphins. The Burgers kicked eight goals to one in the second term to open up a healthy seven goal lead at half time. Another seven goals in the third quarter put the result beyond doubt.
Jake Desousa, Joe Gazzo and Josh Jones each kicked four goals, while Tom Simpson and Dean Putt were Coburg’s best players.

Statistically he's playing good football, but his style of football is detrimental to our club.
He made Wiggins and Fisher look like a stars last weekend, and believe me, Wiggins and Fisher ain't stars.
