After the match, Tiger football director Greg Miller confirmed that new coach Terry Wallace would be bringing a new group with him.
Assistant coaches Darren Crocker and Wayne Brittain were informed by the club on Friday night that they will not be required in 2005, while another assistant, Paul Spargo, was told earlier in the week.
Crocker joined the Tigers alongside outgoing senior coach Danny Frawley in 2000, while Brittain – a former Carlton coach – and Spargo joined the Tigers in 2003.
Richmond football manager Greg Hutchison was told by the club at the start of last week that his services would also not be required in 2005.
The Tigers are expected to run a much leaner football department in 2005 with no full-time recruiting manager and only two assistant coaches under Wallace.
Longtime Wallace associate Paul Armstrong has been tipped to take on a football administration role, while outgoing Western Bulldogs coach Peter Rohde – who worked under Wallace as an assistant with the Bulldogs – has been approached to join the Tigers next year in a coaching/fitness capacity.
Miller also refused to deny a suggestion that up to six senior players will be told by Tuesday that they are no longer required by the club.

Wouldnt think the overated Gary O,Donnell would be interested.? Because you work under Leigh Mathews doesnt mean you are a guru either.
Mail is he is slow to make decisions, where Leigh Mathews make quick decisions ;)

Micky's not going to be our senior coach though ;). McGuane's also played in and coached bottom sides to premierships.

Micks major hurdle would be no TAB facility at PUNT ROAD .
As for Libba, could be an interesting meeting next time I meet him ,lol ;)

Would be happy with Mick as an assistant. His record in Tassie was amazing.
I would like to see Tony Free back at the Club. His record this year at Yarraville wasn't great (I think they won 6 or 7 games) but he didn't have the players.

Brian Royal has agreed to come to Richmond and work under Terry Wallace, just reported on Ch7.
Will be ratified tomorrow.

The commitment to a long-term overhaul, reflected in Wallace's five-year contract and the cleanout of players yesterday, is expected to be further underlined today by the appointment of Brian Royal as an assistant coach for at least three years.
The Tigers are expected to confirm the arrival of Royal this afternoon, the first of several appointments Wallace is to make as he rebuilds a football department that effectively has been levelled.
Royal played with Wallace at Footscray and later served as his senior assistant at Whitten Oval from halfway through 1996 until the end of the 1999 season, when the former Bulldog rover crossed to Melbourne to work with Neale Daniher.
Royal left the Demons at the end of last season and spent this year at Arden Street alongside Dean Laidley.
It is believed that the security of Richmond's long-term offer, the opportunity to be reunited with Wallace and the chance to be involved in a long-term project at Punt Road swayed Royal.
The Tigers, who operated with four assistants to Danny Frawley this year, will work with one fewer next year and apart from the expected appointment of former Bulldog football manager Paul Armstrong, have only one more assistant to decide upon.
David Noble, another former Wallace assistant who has coached Glenelg for the past two years, is among the candidates to fill the last position.
At Whitten Oval, where Chris Bond declined an offer from the Tigers at the weekend to remain with the Bulldogs as an assistant to new coach Rodney Eade, it is expected that Leon Cameron will also stay with the Dogs.

Further to Terry's chat on SEN - regarding assistant coaches he said he was looking at one more.
His preference is for someone just out of the game or recently out of the game....
Said that the view that the whole footy department had been gutted was not correct because Dave Wheadon is staying and this is good because Dave comes from a successful culture.
On Royal he said, he was surprised to get him because he thought Royal would have a contract at North. When he found out that Royal was on a year to year employment agreement - he offerd him the job. Said it is Royal's work with improving the Dogs skill elvel when he took over at Footscray that makes him a great pick up for the Tigers

New Richmond coach Terry Wallace has confirmed that Brian Royal will join him at Punt Rd as an assistant coach for the next three seasons.
Royal, who played 199 matches and kicked 299 goals for the Western Bulldogs from 1983-93, was also an assistant coach at the Whitten Oval from 1996-99, during Wallace's time at the Dogs.
He was also an assistant coach at Melbourne from 2000-03, before he joined the Kangaroos for the 2004 season, to replace Robert Pyman, who was returning home to South Australia for personal reasons.
Royal also coached Leongatha in country Victoria to the 1994 grand final and a premiership the following year.
'Choco' has also been in the running for several senior coaching positions, but has been overlooked on several occasions.
Wallace said Royal played a key role in the rejuvenation of the Western Bulldogs from 1997 and would play a similar role with the Tigers.
During his playing days, Royal also represented Victoria on eight occasions, while he won the Bulldogs best-and-fairest award in 1983. He was also named in the Bulldogs team-of-the-century.

As several players were shown the door, assistant coach Brian Royal was welcomed on a three-year deal as the first official appointment to Wallace's team.
Paul Armstrong, another former Bulldog, is expected to be the next addition.
Although no formal announcement has been made, Armstrong appears odds-on to be the Tigers' new football manager.
Both Royal and Armstrong worked closely with Wallace at the Western Bulldogs. Royal was head-hunted from the Kangaroos because of his ability as a teacher on the track.
He played a key role in transforming the Bulldogs' skills from sloppy to silky in the off-season between '96 and '97. The club rose from 15th to third.
"I wanted a strong skill-based coach," Wallace said.
"My job is to set up what we want to achieve and where we want to take the club. If I have a weakness, it's with the hands-on, methodical working of the players.
"My strengths are with the planning side of the business -- getting it all right and getting the right feel for the place -- and to complement that I needed somebody who was a really strong skill-based person."
The Tigers are still looking at several other areas, including strength and conditioning.

Hellalujah! About bloody time :thumbsup. Who else thought of Fiora the moment they read that lol.
It's unlikely there'll be a one summer transition in our skill level like Wallace/Royal did in their first year at the doggies but if it did then miracles do happen after the way we stuffed up this year :bow.

Great footy brain, if they can keep his exceses under control they could have one of the best tacticians in the game. Still some clubs are prepared to take a risk but not ours.

If it’s true that we’ve taken him on, or are thinking about it, I hope we’ve done our homework first.
Because I’ve heard for a few years now how good McGuane is and was a bit curious as to why no Club had ever picked him up and figured there must have been some logical explanation to it.
If that comment is true about the 'excesses' then it would make sense that he has never found himself coaching at AFL level as, no doubt, this would be a major stumbling block for him. Because no AFL Club would want that sort of influence around its players and place such responsibility on a person who wasn’t in control of the lifestyle he leads?

Richmond has confirmed that Brian Royal and Paul Armstrong will be part of new coach Terry Wallace’s back-up team at Punt Road in 2005.
The Tigers’ Director of Football, Greg Miller, said the pair’s appointments had been ratified by the Club’s Board.
“We’re pleased to announce officially that the speculation about Paul Armstrong and Brian Royal joining the Richmond Football Club is true,” Miller said.
“Paul will have a key role with us in the Football Operations area, while Brian will be the senior assistant coach.
“Both men have plenty of valuable experience at the game’s highest level and are most enthusiastic about the opportunity to help turn around the Tigers’ fortunes.
“Although they won’t officially commence duties until November 1, rest assured that with the trade period coming up, there’ll be plenty of work for them to do before then . . .”
Royal, a former champion Bulldog rover, was an assistant coach to Terry Wallace at the Whitten Oval from 1996-99 before taking on a similar role with Melbourne from 2000-03. He spent the 2004 season as one of Dean Laidley’s assistants at the Kangaroos.
Armstrong was Football Manager at the Western Bulldogs during Wallace’s time there.

Contract negotiations of a different kind are on the minds of retired Kangaroos stalwarts Anthony Stevens and David King.
King is in the frame for off-field positions at the Kangaroos and at Richmond, although in two different fields.
Officials at Arden Street have spoken to the 241-game club legend about a role in the marketing department, where he could put his well-documented love of a chat to good use.
"One of the things that he's been best at for us is representing the club to supporters and sponsors," Kangaroos football operations manager Tim Harrington said.
"He's very media savvy, presents himself well, mixes with all types, so we'd like to continue that if possible."
The Tigers have King in mind for a coaching job, with football director Greg Miller confirming that King had met new Richmond supremo Terry Wallace.
"We've shown interest in him, we've had a preliminary discussion and that's about all it is at this stage. It wouldn't be for a while because there are other pressing things. There are other blokes we want to talk to as well," Miller said.

The Club said about a month ago that we were going to go short an assistant coach. Maybe with Otto leaving we now can afford another assistant for Terry.
