The first time in ages Coburg is on the tellie and they idiots fixture the game on the same time as Richmond is playing :banghead.
A big game too with Coburg just a game (and %) behind Casey. A win would give the Burgers still a chance to finish in the top 4 with lowly Bendigo to follow in the last round whose firsts and ressies lost by a combined 360 points on the weekend :o.

If it wasn't on the tellie it could have been moved to Sunday ;D

They might as well as Richmond supporters can't watch it which cuts the potential audience for the ABC in half.
The AFL draw could've helped too. We'll go from Sunday arvo against Hawthorn to Saturday arvo vs Freo and then back to Sunday arvo for the Dees game.

Not a bad looking side on paper. Hopefully all 13 RFC guys get in.
Good to see Cartledge getting another run at AFL and Patto made to comeback via Coburg.

RE: Radio coverage of this game on Saturday.
As you will note by the double x website www.doublex.com.au we have had a disaster of a week. :banghead
The 1611 AM transmitter was turned off for the final time last night at 6pm.
However the internet stream (as listed at the start of this thread) is still active. :pray
We will know later today if we are calling the final 2 rounds of the season for an internet only stream.
We are in talks with another station about doing VFL with them for the finals.
Peter (volunteer with 3XX - no longer on 1611 KHz :( )

We won by a point.
89-88
Rance 28 possies

What about Dave Gourdis kicking 7 in the reserves!!!
Strong hands and very quick on the lead.
Good effort by the Coburg two's to go undefeated for the season, hopefully they can take out the flag!!
-
I prefered to stay home today and watched parts of coburg game then followed up by watching our game vs freo.
From what I saw, Alex Rance is ready for AFL footy. Clayton Collard must be persisted with- they must work him really hard over the summer, hes the goalsneak we need down the track, Meyer is going ok as well, Id keep Danny for 2009. They are the 3 that caught me eye from what I saw.

What about Dave Gourdis kicking 7 in the reserves!!!
I'm just stoked that they're playing him as a forward
They said he'd be a good full back cause of his closing speed, but I could see the exact same strength making him a great full forward. His inconsistent kicking would be such a worry either as a turnover won't have them lining up for goal.

Agree fully, but hes had a year of seeing what life is like in defence, I reckon hes had a good education in his first 12 months, besides Moore, Thursfield, McGuane and Rance will do it for us in defence, might as well let Gourdis develop as a forward.

Meyer - Cant believe he wasnt in the best, he was fantastic in defence. Ready for senior football IMO.
Rance - Once he builds up his stamina he is going to be a star.
Graham - Should be in the ones before Cartledge.
Collard - the boy is going to be a gun, better version of Eddie Betts.
Polo- Gets caught too often with the pill but then will do something amazing to redeem himself
Cogs - Gutsy today, getting there had a heap of the pill. Strong in the packs.
JON - Quiet today
Hughes - Looked a little lazy but is going to be OK.
Tiva - Not as dominant today but played well.
Howat - Delist, was OK but too one sided. Tiva and Hyde clone
Hyde - DNP
Collins - Looks likely but needs 10 Kgs

Well done to the Burgers to get up. Rance, Polo, Meyer were our better players I thought.
Rance is solid :cheers
Polo isn't the best player in the world but has a big ticker.
Meyer has bit of class about him. Morton of the backline in 2009 :cheers
lol @ JON playing in the forward line.
I would back Cogs after a pre-season of being in our best 22.
Collard has more talent in his left nut than 1/2 the blokes on the feild today. If he gets his act together he could be a class forward pocket. semi-black stevie johnson.
Great to hear Gourids kicked a bag also.
Tivendale is average.
-
Great stuff in both grades. Still a show for the top 4. Thanks for the reports pmac and Bents. Good to hear a number of the young blokes played well in a big game. Hopefully Collard has a big preseason over summer and he can make his debut next year. Great confidence booster for Gourdis too even if only at VFL ressie level.
Any news of how Casserly went in the ressies. Did he get through uninjured?

Match Report Vs. Casey Scorpions
Written by Glenn Robertson
coburgtigers.com.au
The Burgers burst out of the blocks in the first term kicking six majors compared to Casey’s three. Both sides had their fair share of the ball but Coburg just converted it better on the scoreboard. Cameron Howat and Greg Tivendale both found plenty of the ball playing off the wings
1/4 time: Coburg Tigers 6.1 (37) Casey Scorpions 3.2 (20)
The second quarter was a fairly tight affair, with neither side getting a run on. The Burgers finished the term snagging three goals, while Casey could only manage a couple. Clayton Collard played a fantastic role up forward. In only his fifth senior game for the season Clayton was Coburg’s only multiple goal kicker for the match and finished with six valuable goals.
1/2 time: Coburg Tigers 9.3 (57) Casey Scorpions 5.6 (36)
The Scorpions came out firing in the third term booting six goals to three, strangely the exact opposite to what happened in the first term. The game was poised for a nail bitting last term. Paul Shelton and Andrew Horne were again some of the Burgers better players, when the going gets tough these two boys can always be found at the bottom of a pack. Cam Howat also played his best game for the season, collecting possessions at will through the midfield.
3/4 time: Coburg Tigers 12.5 (77) Casey Scorpions 11.8 (74)
In a tense last quarter the Burgers held their nerves the best and came away with a single point margin. Fortunately for Coburg it was the most accurate they have kicked all season and in the end the major reason as to why the came away with the victory. It was a fine sharp-shooting performance from the boys, and hopefully they can continue it on into the finals. Alex Rance was great in the final term, winning a lot of contested ball. This week the Burgers face the out of form Bendigo Bombers at Windy Hill on Saturday starting at 2pm.
Coburg Tigers 6.1 9.3 12.5 14.5 (89)
Casey Scorpions 3.2 5.6 11.8 13.10 (88)
Goal Kickers: C. Collard 6, G. Tivendale, N. Caruso, N. Liddle, F. Caruso, D. Meyer, M. Vasilevski, C. Hughes, J. Oakley-Nicholls
Best Players: C. Howat, C. Collard, P. Shelton, A. Rance, G. Tivendale, A. Horne
RESERVES
After a casual three goals in the first term the Burgers kicked away and were way to strong for Casey booting six, six and seven goals respectively in the next three quarters to record a eighty point win.
David Gourdis was the star up forward. Before this week he had only kicked five goals for the season, but he turned it on and booted seven majors in a best on ground display. Trav Dulic and Daniel Bramich were also suberb for the Burgers, while Josh Jones and Paul Currie added another seven goals between them.
Finals start for the Reserves this week, but as the Boys finished on top they get the luxury of having this week off.
Coburg Tigers 3.7 9.12 15.15 22.21 (153)
Casey Scorpions 2.2 5.6 9.9 10.12 (72)
