Title: Should Tivs get a farewell call-up this week?
Post by: one-eyed on August 25, 2008, 02:52:44 AM
Now that we are out of the finals race, should Tivs get a call-up this week to play a farewell game?

The game amounts to nothing so why not. We will win either way.
Tivs no matter what people think of him has been a good servant of the club and not a bad player to boot.

no, but its time to rest some players and give rance, meyer, collins, jon, gus, huges and gourdis a run. play as many young kids as we can as the game has zero value. who cares if we lose this one means jack poo

Some old heads shoudl give up their spots to allow for some experience. Tiva should play at Burgers as he is a big chance to win the Liston Trophy.  Meyer Rance should be in for Johnson & Bowden.

Edwards should play for the burgers so he can qualify for finals.

As it has been said we have nothing to lose from it so why not. I'm in favour of giving him a game this weekend so say farewell. And he's been playing good at Coburg so he just might give us all a few good suprises. As when he's on song he's a bloody good player. And if he knows its his last for Richmond AFL he might put in a good one. So he might stand a chance with another team in the AFL for another year or two against us.
But I would give him the game.

Yes, if only to give him the chance to apologise to the fans  ;D

Both Tivs and Rance have played well all year and one deserves a call up.

Almost every week they have both been in the best so one deserves a call up.

Id go with Rance as tivs has had his chance at seniors this year.

No but we should seek permission from the Melbourne Footy Club and if it is granted put Tivs in the back of an FJ ute to go around the ground to the tune of Queen's Fat Bottomed Girls you may my rockin world go round.

Yes, he does, he deserves it on Coburg form anyway.

Yep give Tivs a farewell game this week just to reward him for the fact he's put the club first by never sooking about playing VFL and always setting a professional example to our youngsters at Coburg with his many B.O.G. performances this year :clapping.

I like Tivs, so yes, would luv to see him play his last game.
And he's earned his spot, so I don't think there should be a problem.
The argument about playing the kids - well, they can play in finals for Coburg.

You would've thought the Club would've announced Tivs is playing his last game this week by now if he was playing.

Its not right to tell a player who may win the Liston that his services are no longer required.

I never thought highly of him as a footballer, but if you have met him no one can ever question what a real nice bloke he is.

He has had a great year let him go out with a few medals.

You may be right daniel. We may want to make sure Tivs wins the Liston. Coburg should on form and ability be far too good for Bendigo so there's another 3 votes for Tivs on offer. He's been named 12 times in the bests for the Burgers from just 14 VFL games this year  :clapping.

I have nothing but respect for a guy who has unofficially been dumped from the senior team, but plays the way he has this year.

You compare that to pathetic Pettifer and Raines.

I know a close girlfriend of those really well and she says all they have been doing this year is whinge and complain about the club how there not getting game time.

Petts is a disgrace and i am so upset he did his knee, as his papers would have been marked for sure and almost certainly would have played his last game for the club in round 11

Its run as a buisness. And that the whole story to it. If you don't fit in at the time its curtains for that person. As much as we think they should stay make no difference.

Rainesy has had one injury after the other this year so fair enough if he's frustrated. He's hardly played at Coburg either.

Yeah, not fair to include Raines
He couldn't get on the park this year
