Title: 2009 Richmond 22.
Post by: Judge Roughneck on September 03, 2008, 01:51:00 AM
How would you like to see the side like up?

Midfield:
 - Deledio, Cotchin, Foley, Coughlan, Tuck, Tambling, White. If fit I looks like a solid, young unit.

Richo floating.

Simmonds & Pattison in the ruck.

Jackson, Edwards, Polo are kids pushing for a spot. Johnson and Bowden older heaps still around.

Forward:
 - Riewoldt, Brown, Morton

Will we use a 2nd key forward? Hughes/Schultz/Gourdis? With Polak gone we need to draft another developing tall.

Collard is a wildcard.

Defence:
 - Moore, Thursfeild, McGaune, Newman.

McMahon will be there again. Would be nice to see Rance or Meyer pushing for a spot.

So what will it be?

Come on people, you need to keep Bowden out of the backline if he's going to be there at all

Maybe one Key forward short. Would be nice if Hughes could cement full forward or Schultz step up. Gourdis bit of a wildcard - would be nice to have another jet in the side.

What's with Meyer? He has done nothing, shown nothing, I think we should trade him. Raines will be back better and stronger next year 9I hope)

Why would you want to trade a former 1st rounder who is 21-22 years old?

Meyer is a classy footballer and has been making Coburgs best often in recent weeks. Would be nice bonus to see what he can - has HBF written all over him.

Raines has alot of work to go to get ahead of; Jackson/Connors/Edwards/Polo who have gone past him this year.

Polo Thursfield McGaune
Meyer Moore Rance
Tambling Cotchin Richo
Connors Riewoldt White/Edwards/Collard
Brown Hughes Morton
Simmonds Deledio Foley
Pattison Coughlan Tuck Newman

That would be nice to watch. Alot of potential.

Bowden, Johnson, McMahon, King...

I forgot White - have to go in the team somewhere maybe at the expense of Polo but hard call. Browny not the same player he was.

The good thing about this is that it too tough to do. There are going to be some very stiff players to miss out on selection if everybody is healthy as of R1. Plus there are some kids that might just surprise in the preseason.

Think I will pass on doing this for now. Also trade week is comming and I have a feeling that one or two on that team just might go eslewhere.

Trades and one or two draftees may have to be squeezed in there too. Sugar and Bowden mostly likely will still be in the side in reality but I left them out as they'll probably retire at the end of next year.

1. Brett Deledio           250
2. Shane Tuck              223
3. Matthew Richardson 203
4. Chris Newman         196
5. Kelvin Moore            186
6. Troy Simmonds         184
7. Nathan Foley            182
8. Jordan McMahon       162
9. Nathan Brown           161
10. Kane Johnson          155

---

McGaune Thursfield Rance  ...  /Meyer/Raines/Polo/Schultz/Jackson
Newman Moore McMahon
Richardson Deledio Tuck
Tambling Riewoldt White
Brown Hughes Morton
Simmonds Cotchin Foley
Johnson Pattison Connors Edwards

I would say the side is starting to look settled

Intersting that players on the verge of our 22, are all former first round draft picks, that are in that about 21-22 yoa  (or there abouts); Rance (18?), Meyer (12), Polo (20), Schultz (12?). Raines former runner up rising star. Outside that we got mostly kids; Collard, Gourdis, Putt, Collins types, and a few iffy mature players - Bowden/King

This would be a good thing I think.

Looking at that 22, and the emergency list, if we don't make the finals next year, it would be a MASSIVE disappointment.
