Just wondering if any of us think we now have any players who are genuinely elite?
Borrowing the below same categories from last year.
Elite - Capable of being AA several times in career, or on closely missing out on a number of occassions
AFL Quality - At least 8 teams in the league have players of equivalent ability filling out positions 5=>18 on their list.
Borderline - Either: An established player who would be in and out of sides throughout the league OR a young player who is not yet at AFL level BUT is close to and if keeps improving should become so (or even become elite).
Unproven - yet to prove they can cut it at AFL level. Must have played at least a handful of games at AFL to get beyond this stage.
-
Elite - Richo
AFL Quality - Newy, Thursty, Lids, Simmo, Browny, Cotchin, Bowden, Jordie :outtahere, McGuane, Johnson, Morton, Tuck, Tambo, Moore, Foley.
Borderline - Rainesy, Edwards, Riewoldt, Polo, Petts, Meyer, Jackson, Cogs, Schulz, Patto, JON, Hughes, White, Silvester, Cartledge, Connors, Howat, King.
Unproven - Graham, Collins, Putt, Gourdis, Rance, Collard, Casserly.
Left our Polak for obvious reasons.

Pretty much agree with MT, but I'd have Deledio & Cotchin in the elite catagory already, both will get multiple AA selections
-
We're going to have a better idea of who is elite when we start playing finals. That's when the elite stand up.
Richo is elite
Browny could have been if he didn't break his leg.
Cotchin and Deledio definately will be.
-
Nathan Brown is already a dual-AA so could be in there anyway

lol. Yeah maybe I should have put him under the unproven category then. I put him under borderline as he is borderline after 4 years and needs to start showing his ability at senior level next year now he is apparently over his hip problem and can hopefully have a full uninterupted preseason.

Interesting that Petts and Tivs were the only ones to get a 1 anywhere. Both for Durability.

I think you'll find it's Delediodelight's opinion.
Subjective, as opinions are.

Oh, I see. Should have read it better than I did.

If Tivs was anything he was durable. Hardly ever got injured in his whole career. From 2000-7 he only missed 6 games. I would also rate his footy smarts higher than a few other Tigers listed who shouldn't be rated a 3 (good) for footy smarts. Tivs just didn't have the foot skills to back it up (no right foot to turn onto when he needed to and an inconsistent left one when passing short).
