Title: Is there a worse txt msg??
Post by: 2JD on September 24, 2008, 06:58:42 AM: I received a txt msg from my son who is travelling through Africa "Been mugged, dont have a phone anymore, I'm fine"
What sort of msg is that for your mother!!!! What does "fine" mean? Did he get hurt? Did they get anything else?
I know nothing more until he gets in touch again, which according to his itinery will be in about 22 days! :scream

Not to try and upset you further but there are some pretty terrible places in Africa for tourists. A girl I worked with was shot after her car was hijacked when travelling in Kenya. One of her friends was killed and two others seriously injured.

Hopefully, he'll be home soon. But I'm glad to hear him say he's okay, which must make you feel better.

Still, that's probably one of the worst messages a mum can get.

Someone I know was mugged in Kenya by one of their cops while travelling through Africa. As Yes Minister would say TPLAC.

He is safe amongst the lions and other wild beasts for a little while.You try not to worry but it's difficult

The good news is, we can all stop worrying, I've heard from him via stuff (must have been a wireless pc in a boab tree or something) and he's good
Mind you I might mug him after i hug him when he gets back....He couldnt just say he lost his phone?????? kids! ::)
