McGuane played 16 games this year for a total of 32 in his career so far since making his debut in 2006 (drafted pick 36, 2004). Like Jack and Edwards didn't play his first game this year until the round 4 thrashing of Freo in Perth and then only missed the Swans, Bombers and Carlton matches for the rest of 2008.

How did we all rate Luke's season?
-
G'day all, long time read, first time poster
Anyway, i'm a pretty big fan of Luke. He started the season pretty slowly but finished really well. He clearly developed some confidence and now offers a bit of run and carry of half back (something Thurstfield is still yet to develop :pray ). He was a bottom ager when we picked him and is roughly the same age as Deledio.
I give him a 7 or 8. One of the players at the start of the season who I thought would be on the chopping blockc come the end of 08 but he has now come good. A key part of Richmonds defence. Has a tenancity matched by no other player on Richmonds list. His half against Buddy and his shirtfront on Daziell were some of the highlights of Richmonds year
Needs to get on the bike though and build up those chicken legs.

Yep, can't disagree with that.
He's a tough nut at times too, doesn't mind dishing it out.
Those boys down back have developed into a tight unit too..at the J D Night they kept referring to them selves as the 'back six'.

McGaune - Thursty - Newman
McMahon - Moore - x
??
Bowden?
Connors?
Tambling?
Meyer?
Schultz?
Rance?
I hope McMahon is moved to the bench/wing rather than 'back 6'.

Ditto 7/10. Surprise packet of the year for mine.
That poor Brisbane player (Patful?) on the end of a McGuane shirtfront can vouch about Luke being a toughnut :thumbsup.

Worth keeping.
:thumbsup

7/10. Showed good improvement and added a bit of hard grunt. Helped stiffen our backline up and now, as everyone else is suggesting, needs to put on a bit of beef. A fair bit of upside.

I like the way he kicks. Looks like a robot.

Agree on all points. Loved the way he threw Nick Riewoldt down like a bag of ...........
Has a crazy streak in him and not afraid to use it. 7/10 for the year. :thumbsup

Id like to see him moved even farther back. like the third row of the parking lot.
Anyway
Luke was great this year, love the mongrel in him and his run and carry. Could do with a little more meat though.
7.8/10

what I like most about Lukey is his fierce competitiveness, like a cat in a dryer, throwing himself into everything..adds an important element to our back half that has been lacking for some time
