Title: Yeah or Neah - 31. Chris Hyde
Post by: mightytiges on September 04, 2004, 04:03:42 AM
Hyde's been on our list for a while now. He was delisted in 2002 from memory as part of delisting a required number of players before being redrafted. This year especially midyear he played a few good to reasonable games. Should we perservere with him another year given he did improve quite a bit in 2004 after looking like a certain delisting or has he had long enough and it's time we let him go?

Shame we didn't have a most improved player award at the B&F - i think Chris would get it.
Although i agree with Jack - is this the best he'll get!

Would you include Bowden in a most improved award?

As much as i admire Chris Hyde for working very hard and getting himself very, very fit. I dont think he is upto AFL standard as a top notch senior player, you never know though Terry may get an extra 10% out of him.

Deserves another year atleast under better coaches.

Brian Royal WILL make a difference with our disposal.

How about encouragement award lol
No, i'd still give it to Hyde, because Bowden was always capable of playing at the level he did this year, just didn't
And Hyde has gone from being on dud list to probably holding his place next year.
He deserves another year to see if he can take the next step.

I have to agree with that Jackstar. Improving from definitely gone to being not a bad player is a credit to Hyde this year but to be a top side we need more than that. It'll be interesting to see what happens in the next month or so to these type of guys we have a few of on our list.

I'm looking forward to what Royal can do here - glowing reports from Doggie fans at work on what he did with them.
If he can do it with Timmy, i'm thinking he can be a very valuable player in the future.  He's got the agression and desire - just needs a bit of skill.

Royal might be good but he's no miracle worker lol  ;).

I have been a huge mark for Hyde because he doesnt mind taking or giving a bump....

I think he was good until the genius thought he would make a good tagger, thus taking any sting he would provide out of our forward thrusts.

Definately deserves another go.....

Tries hard but is a dumb footballer. Lacks awareness and sharpness that could see him establish any long term future at the club.  Definitely a keeper for 2005 though.
