Title: Coburg 2009.
Post by: Judge Roughneck on October 02, 2008, 04:49:43 AM
In recent years the Burgers have looked alright, getting to the gf a couple years ago and recently having a solid season before a bad finals.

Next season, if Wallace gives kids like a spot in our 22, such as - Morton, Pattison, White, Connors, Edwards, Rance, Meyer etc. it is going to mean Coburg might have a nice balanced side.

Casserly x JON
Raines Schultz Jackson
Johnson Polo King
Bowden Hughes Collins
Putt Gourdis Collard
Graham x x

Some grunt deapth midfeilders who are pushing for places in Richmond side: Polo, Raines, Jacko.

Nice developing talls. + some x factor in the unknown potential of the like of Casserly, Collard, Putt....

Add to that the like of Bowden, King who will kill it and that level - and the Burgers might give the flag a shake. A gun mid @ 8 in the draft would be the icing on the cake.

What do you want to see?

 - Putt #1 ruck / kicks goals whe forward
 - Gourdis CHF / Rance CHB
 - Polo / Raines dominate midfeild
 - Collard push for selection as small forward

Yep I'd like to see Putt and Gourdis at least cement spots in the Coburg seniors.

Every other current Tiger who survives onto our 2009 list should be either playing for Richmond or pushing for Richmond selection.

Virtually all of our newbie draftees and 6 rookies will be at Coburg. If Richmond drafts a few more young KPPs that will help Coburg straighten up as they were playing with a midget forward line for most of the year. Coburg had JON and Meyer as our CHF and FF respectively  :P until Cleve was able to return for the final against Frankston.

If we follow our usual rookie selections one of the rookies will be a current Coburg listed player. Not sure who that'll be though. No real obvious candidate given most of the better Burgers are smalls.

I think that you are forgetting a few Coburg players in that line up like Carnell, Shelton, Keogh to name a few.

I think Coburg are also having a crack at getting Tiv to stay on next year.

Pretty sure Tiva has already signed to play for Port Melbourne

I heard too a couple of week ago that Tivs is off to Port Melbourne.

Carnell, Shelton or even Fort would probably be favourites to become a RFC rookie if we go down that path.

I would think that Carnell would be the most likely to get a pre-season out of those 3.

Dont be surprised to see Tiv at Coburg next season.

I think you may be right about Carnell TFL.

The word going around on the vflfooty site about Tivs is Port has the money that Coburg doesn't to keep him now that Tivs is off an AFL list.

Lets hope it is Richmond listed players who are in the starting midfield and spine.

Need to draft and develop them first. Most of Coburg's mosquito fleet were Burger players and Coburg lacked talls especially up forward when Jack, Cleve and Morton were pushed up to play with Richmond.
