We knew about Stafford for Marsh.
As it's a Sunday game there are still 3 to drop out. Who does everyone think they will be?
I know we don't want to "reward" one good game Coburg players but IMO Ty should come in as I don't believe either Gas, AK or Razor have the strength to go with Barry Hall. I would give Joel another week or two at Coburg. Fletcher, Rodan and maybe young Roachy are at risk of the drop this week.

Very disappointed in Joel's "soft" selection.
From reports in the 2s he played like it was a stroll in the park - where's the reward for effort they were trying to instill in him?

I don't think you can "make" a statement one week by dropping them and the next week select them (and I am talking about both Joel and Zantuck here).
I wouldn't play either of them - Richo and Staff for Marsh and Fletcher. Though I don't think they will drop Fletcher after 1 game. So my money is one Rodan being dropped.
If they don't play Zantuck they have to keep Weller because of his size.

Play zantuck at FF and shultz and weller outta CHF.
Rodan and flethcer might get a game cause there in and under and hard at it.
They said they will cut it down to 22 on friday so that will be good./

Gee that forecast changes things a bit.
Although I agree there is a concern with Richo - I think we have to play him to expose the Swans shorter backline.
If it's going to wet - do we keep the smalls at the expense of a tall eg Weller - remembering we have ot play Ottens and Stafford.
Perhaps it is a case of looking for tomorrows weather forecast and taking it from there

We’ll have to wait and see on the “in” and “outs” I guess, but for the long-term future and development of players, I have to agree that one week at Coburg doesn't make a “statement” to players.
And as much as we'd all like to win every game and have the best possible match ups each game, I think we need to be tougher on players, for their own good as well as the team.

Big names back for Tigers

As expected there are some big names back for the Tigers for Sunday's game against the Swans in Sydney.
Matthew Richardson has proved his fitness after mssing three weeks with a torn hamstring while Greg Stafford is straight in having served a three match suspension for unduly rough play.
As well, Ty Zantuck and Joel Bowden return to the extended squad of 25 after a week in the VFL.
Ben Marsh is the only player dropped from the team which defeated Hawthorn by a point at Telstra Dome last Friday night.
The Swans have similarly made four additions and just the one omission so far.
Into the Sydney line-up come Michael O'Loughlin, who has finally recovered from a hamstring nerve problem and Luke Ablett, who was a late withdrawal from last week's game against Essendon with gastro.
Also into the squad are Amon Buchanan and Mark Powell, both of whom have been named on a seven-man bench.
The Swans have just the one enforced change with Adam Schneider likely to miss up to a month with a torn hamstring.
Both squads will be trimmed to 22 on Friday.

Welcome ox and wrenny to OER.
The final 22 to me will say what is in the Club's or at least the football department's minds. If neither Joel or Ty make it in then we are looking solely at long-term beyond 2004; if Ty came in (to man up on Hall say) and not Joel then we are trying to have a bit at both-ways. If both come in :-X then we are surely soft on our players discipline wise.

Richmond forward Matthew Richardson completed training at Punt Road without incident on Friday and appears likely to take on the Swans this weekend.
Named in the Tigers 22 after missing the last three weeks with a hamstring strain, Richardson trained with the main group but didn’t exert himself.
He did pull up a bit short in his action after bending over to pick up a half-volley on the run, but stayed on to complete the session, even remaining on the ground after the main group had left for some extra marking and goal-kicking practice.
Speaking before training, coach Danny Frawley indicated his gun forward was fully fit and raring to go, but needed to get through Friday’s workout.
“He’s trained well all week,” Frawley said.
“He’s been fully training now for a week and half so from that perspective he’s done a hell of a lot of work.”
“It’ll be 29 days. Normally hamstrings are three (weeks) so he was line-ball last week but he’s got another session to get through.”
The Tigers will take 23 players will Sydney for Sunday’s clash, and Frawley believes the return of Richardson will help the team improve its conversion rate.
“Last week (against Hawthorn), whilst we didn’t win by as much as we wanted to, if you look at the last quarter we got the ball (inside 50) 17 times and probably didn’t capitalise as much as we should have.”
Frawley said he has also observed a lift in intensity at training following last week’s one-point triumph and hopes to build on the momentum.

Our emergencies are Rodan, Bowden and Zantuck (I can hear the sound of joy from many posters here ;D ). So it's Richo and Staff in for Rodan and Marsh.
BBBBH may have a field day on Sunday but for once the Club has held it's nerve and looked long-term with regards to the players. Well done Tigers. :)

Have to agree regarding the Club holding its nerve. I am hoping it last the rest of the season. If ( and I know it is probably wishful thinking :-\) we do manage to turn the season around - it wont be on the back of the players that over the past 2-3 years that have disappointed us. It will be on the back of young blokes having a crack, dip all of those things we as supporters crave.

This game was the first one we looked at on OER (May 7, 2004 was when the site started). I'm guessing the reason for this apparent strange "bump" is to compare a wooden spoon side to now? :huh
newie and the much maligned Schulz, Krakouer & Rodan the only players still on AFL lists..
We had Jacko and Tucky on our list back then as well with Moore and Foley as rookies. Just shows how decimated Spud left our list in when he left. It was back to starting from scratch with no decent recruiter to boot :P.

The best players in that team were predominantly the older players eg Brown Richardson etc. It just shows you how poor the recruiting was at that time.
